Focus on the Family Demands ‘Faith-Based’ Federal Handouts for Ex-Gay Activists
Posted January 27th, 2009 by Michael Airhart

In its CitizenLink political-action newsletter yesterday, Focus on the Family laughably characterized President Barack Obama as a homosexual activist — and then criticized Obama for denying ex-gay political activists access to federal “faith-based” handouts:

Although Obama has pledged allegiance to the gay and “transgender” agenda, he refuses to support those who are dealing with unwanted same-sex attractions.

His Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships will not provide funding to faith-based organizations if they are working to help people overcome unwanted homosexuality.

Equality advocates promote the values of education, fitness, and self-reliance; they don’t seek “faith-based” handouts from taxpayers, and neither should those ex-gay political activists who promote sexual dishonesty, denial, compulsion, depression, and sectarian religious beliefs.

1. Let them whine about it.
What those ex-gay organizations are doing is psychologically and physically damaging to gay people. They need to be cut off and STOPPED.

3. Do Satanists get faith-based funding too?
How about Pagans? Or only those approved by the right-wing fundamentalists?

6. actually that would disprove an accusation that it funds all right wing approved groups
to disprove the notion it is only right wing approved groups you would have to find them funding something the right doesn't approve of.

11. Good questions.
I can only imagine the look on the fundamentalists' faces if a Satanists group got "faith-based funding". *ROARING!*

12. sweet
Good Point ... of course we already know the answer. Everybody's tax dollars must fund the far-right conservative republican PAC's and nobody else. We have to use tax dollars to build schools for them too.

Otherwise, few would support their BS. Religious channels are part of the basic cable package because nobody pays extra to watch their shit. Furthermore, they keep infiltrating the major networks. Evidently, the "magic of the market place" they so ferverntly support is cast to one side in their defense here as well.

Give nothing to any of them ..... better yet, tax the fuckers.

7. As a principle I don't think tax dollars should fund faith based programs.
Let the support come from private donors and keep tax dollars out of the equation.

However, there is some comfort that there are guidelines and I would like to hear more about them.

10. What in the hell do they need handouts for?
Just petition the Mormon and Catholic churches, and they'll send you all the money you need, right?
