1. I'm not doing it yet, but I'm planning on taking a CELTA course
to teach ESL.

I'd be interested in your training, if any, and where you teach.

Thanks!:-)

2. hey dere!
I'm hoping the best for you!
I got my certification through the state of tennessee then had to pass the PRAXIS-two parter. I did that along with getting my masters.
So, now, I've been teaching stricktly ESL in the public schools for four years.
Now I'm taking an online course through Bridge-TEFL for an "international certification".

Nice to meet you. I hope i can answer any questions you have. I'm still learning myself!
Off to work I go!

4. I have all the qualifications for an ESL certificate except for a teaching certificate
I feel like I didn't really get trained specifically on how to work with kids who don't speak a word of English and come from different backgrounds, though! It was a lot of theory and very little actual nuts and bolts stuff. I guess that is what student teaching is for...

5. I have volunteered with a program for adults
Since it is a volunteer program that doesn't have enough volunteers, I was not required to be teacher certified. I had to complete 6 hours of training and prove that I could read and write English at a 12th grade level.
As the end of my pregnancy looms, I have quit for the moment, but perhaps will do it again.
