The Backbone Campaign's Conversations with the Cabinet program - a free conference call featuring interviews with the nation's most progressive policy leaders - returns next week with a Conversation with Sanho Tree. With much gratitude to past Conversations Co-Producer, Diane Wittner, we say goodbye to Diane and welcome our new Volunteer Co-Producer Marianne Barisonek.


Sanho Tree is a fellow at the Drug Policy Project of the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. He's been nominated to the Backbone Campaign's Progressive Cabinet for Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. We'll be speaking with him on Monday, Feb. 18th at 5:30pm (PST) (8:30pm EST) about the current state of the War on Drugs. As the United States pursues a punitive policy in its efforts to control drug addiction, the costs mount but there's been few real victories. Sanho Tree will talk about the dynamics that keep ineffective and expensive policies in place as well as offering an alternative approach.
