Pens and Caps Even Series 2-2
Edited on Fri May-08-09 11:36 PM by Avalux
Pens did a good job tonight; don't know about Gonchar's injury. I've watched the video about 10 times and think Ovechkin should be suspended for the hit.

Not much of a rest with the next game in DC tomorrow night.

GO PENS!!!!!

1. Pens have been pretty tight lipped about his injury,
at best I'd say he's out for the rest of the series, at worst, the entire playoffs.

Pens hopefully will close this out tonite.

2. Gill should have been penalized before the 2nd intermission. Tripped a player
driving to the net and never touched the puck.

3. A penalty called at 2:02 left in a game had better be obvious. This one was NOT. nt

4. This is absolute horseshit.
A stick check is now a slash but tripping a guy on the breakaway is nothing. They're giving Pittsburgh the game. Sickening.

5. Our Boyz are hanging pretty tough. Brilliant of Boudreau to call the 'time out' when he did.
And Pittsburgh is a talented team that doesn't need the help of the referees.

It's getting like the NBA. Such is the price of the Caps' leading player being a scruffy Russian rather than a cute Canadian. Crosby is the face the league wants representing the NHL.

7. I'm conflicted...I'd like to see Mr. person's favorite team go down,
but I was also hoping they might win, because if there is a God the winner of this series will play the Bruins in the next, and I think Boston will have an easier time with the Penguins.

8. Boston will be lucky to make the next round.
They have to play flawless hockey just to get there. That is one series I was completely wrong about. I thought they'd already be sitting and waiting for their next opponent.

9. The regular season is irrelevant and home-ice has little value in hockey. nt

10. Home ice is valuable for match ups.
But it's not the end-all, be-all it once was. Heart has a lot more to do with winning than seeding.

11. In baseball and basketball, home-field advantage is huge, but hockey
rinks are much more uniform now and you don't have the same perspective issues in hockey that you have in basketball, vis a vis, what you see behind the glass to affect your aim.

Being the top seed in hockey isn't worth playing for in the regular season. You should rest your people towards the end.

12. It was more of an advantage years ago when the crowd was right on top of you.
Teams were scared shitless to come into the Spectrum back in the day. The old Montreal forum, Boston Garden, Chicago stadium all were advantageous to their home team because of the crowd and unique dimensions. The new places are all giant hollow halls with no personality and mostly corporate fans. The only places with that old school feel are Nassau Coliseum and the Igloo.

By the way, are you watching this Canucks/Hawks game? Fucking wild.

13. Yes. And the Boston Garden's rink was the smallest, and the team was
built to suit that rink, while others were not.

I haven't seen any other games. I got rid of cable and now watch the Caps games in a bar.
