Unreal, an odds-on favorite in a college football future book
USC theoretically has a greater chance to win the 2005 national championship than the rest of the nation combined, according to some Las Vegas sportsbooks. I saw USC at 5/7 (bet 7 to win 5) today, completely unprecedented in modern history.

Actually, it's the bettors who have dropped the odds, after USC opened at 2/1 or slightly lower.

Normally the favorite is in the 4/1 to 6/1 range at this point.

1. That's pretty odd
But I guess understandable, since the Trojans are returning most everyone.

Wonder how much gets wagered on NCAA football futures.

2. Bow down and worship the Trojans! Southern Cals time has come.
PAGANS of the world unite:

USC is actually a great school to be national champion. It went from a spoiled rich kid school in the '60's to a model of diversity that works and a trusted friend of the community around it.

3. Amen, old friend!
And let me say that I am NOT stalking you, autorank! These days my schedule only permits me a foray into the wonderful world that is DU about once a week, but I continue to be pleasantly surprised at how much we have in common on so many different issues!

I am an absolutely loyal Auburn fan, orange and blue running through the veins and all. Grew up here, went to a rival school and wrote for all SEC schools in a past life. That said, I have told anyone who would listen that USC was unlike any college team I've seen - ever. I'm still pretty young (I FEEL young, anyway), but have avidly followed NCAA football for the past 30 years, so I don't make that statement lightly!

I would have loved for this season's Auburn team to have had a shot at USC in the Orange Bowl. USC had the most talent and best game I've ever seen; the Tigers had the most heart and focus. There is little doubt in my mind that the Trojans would have still left the field as national champs, but it would have been a better (and more just) game than the matchup with the overrated Sooners.

5. Well, we don't call Southern California "the Southland" for nothing!
Hi there, you are a lady of exquisite football taste. The Sooners...all they're good for is beating Texas. It's never stalking when I run into you. Check your PM's. There should be one there from a few weeks ago.
:hi:

4. USC sucked before Norm Chow
And now Chow's gone.

The math is pretty simple.
