Are the Lions going to go 0-16?
I think so. The only shot they have at winning a game is next week at home against Minnesota. Sorry, Lions fans, but I think it's gonna happen.

1. I give it better than a 50/50 chance, at least.
Just like last year's Patriots found a way to win games no matter what, up until the Super Bowl of course, this year's Lions will always find a way to lose. Just look at the Tampa Bay game, where a 17-0 lead turned into a 38-20 loss.

9. I think it's better than 50/50 now and the odds will go up as the remaining
weeks pass...they are losing whatever motivation they had.

2. I think they'll end up shocking a team that doesn't try
against them and maybe win one game.

Minnesota at home is looking like their best shot, but they're horrific.

5. Their schedule is mainly against teams that need that win...
...one of them could be looking ahead, but I doubt it this late in the year. I wonder who was the last team not to win a game, if indeed there was one.

7. I believe that was the Bucs when they entered the league in the late 70s.
But they only went 0-14 since that was all the games they played in a season back then.

6. Trust me, as a Vikings fan.
If any team has a chance to be Detroit's savior from an oh-fer season, it's the Vikings. We *barely* beat them in the first matchup, 12-10, and even that depended on a miscalled fumble and a bogus pass interference call to set up the GW FG.

8. Yeah, the Vikings like to give away games,
but I think they're playing better now and realize they could win the division.

3. Vikings, Colts, Saints, Packers
That's their remaining schedule. Basically, they're screwed.

4. They're playing teams that need to win...
...they're not going to play someone whose playoff picture has been determined one way or another. They're screwed indeed.

:)

11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers were winless their first two seasons
Someone asked their coach, John McKay, what he thought of his team's execution. He said that he was in favor of it.

12. I thought they had, but couldn't remember.
Plus, looking it up would have taken the joke away, so I didn't want to risk it. ;)

McKay was hilarious. Some of my faves...

After the Bucs broke their 26-game losing streak he said, "Three or four plane crashes and we're in the playoffs."

He once told the media that they didn't know a football from a bunch of bananas, so someone in the media sent a bunch to his house. The next day he started his press conference by saying, "You guys don't know the difference between a football and a Mercedes Benz!"

On hearing how Buc kicker Pete Rajecki was nervous about McKay watching him in the 1976 pre-season - "That's unfortunate as I plan on attending all the games."

"The bus leaves in an hour - anyone who needs a shower, take one."

13. They were winless their first season (0-14) but finally won a game in their second.
They beat the Saints in the 13th game of 1977.

14. I think the chances are good that they will.
They are a terrible team, poorly coached and managed and are playing with no fire or will at all. They just want it to be over.

15. Exactly---
My phins were winless at this time last season---winless because of a lousy coach, the worng personel and a bad QB. BUT--- you could tell they did not want to go winless and eventually gutted out a win.

I watched the Lions on T-Giving, and they looked like a team who didn't give a shit.

16. As a Packers fan, I have a fear
I fear that my beloved Pack will face a must win situation in the final week of the season against Detroit and lose the game. So c'mon Detroit, win a game before then.

18. History In The Making!
Well, maybe infamy!

Not many teams have gone winless in the NFL, have they. I know the Bucaneers did it one year, and i think Pittsburgh did in the late 60's. (I remember that the only reason the Bears weren't the worst team in the league was because of the Steelers.)

But, you know what: The Bears played them twice. And they played the Rams. I think the Rams are actually a worse team! They can't block and they can't tackle. The Lions could do something with a quarterback who isn't glued to the field.

21. For weeks I've been thinking that's Detroit's best chance
Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 02:12 AM by Awsi Dooger
Green Bay will very possibly have nothing to play for, and today's loss to Carolina seemingly helps Detroit's chances in the final game. The Packers could be deflated in the finale, coming off a 13-3 season but without a shot at the playoffs a year later.

Still, it's a division game and the Lions are remarkably inept, so motivation vs. zero motivation might not be enough of an edge.

22. They've made it to 0-14
I'm guessing they'll probably slip up and beat Green Bay though. 0-16 would be really cool though, and right after a team went 16-0 last year for the first time.

He's at the top of most NFL draft lists, should he decide to skip his senior season.

26. There is some doubt about that in New Orleans
The Saints are the Lions last home game. Locals are fearing the Saints will just mail the game in since they are now out of the playoffs.

30. The sweat pumps are working overtime
in New Orleans thinking the Saints will be Detroit's one win this year and not without good cause. The injury reserve list is SRO and the Saints defensive backfield is more less a coffee machine and they got kicked out of any hopes of the playoffs last week. Saints fans now want Brees to break Marino's single season passing record and if the Saints give up the run for that endeavor, Brees could pass for 400 yards and chalk up another loss. The Aints will be out in force in the quarter Sunday afternoon.
