Sox fans check in!

"It's A Hard Life"
by Queen

I don't want my freedom
There's no reason for living with a broken heart

This is a tricky situation
I've only got myself to blame
It's just a simple fact of life
It can happen to anyone

You win - you lose
It's a chance you have to take with love
Oh yeah - I fell in love
And now you say it's over and I'm falling apart

It's a hard life
To be true lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
When you're in love

I try to mend the broken pieces
I try to fight back the tears
They say it's just a state of mind
But it happens to everyone

How it hurts - deep inside
When your love has cut you down to size
Life is tough - on your own
Now I'm waiting for something to fall from the skies
And I'm waiting for love

Yes it's a hard life
Two lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another - right from the start
When you're in love

Yes it's a hard life
In a world that's filled with sorrow
There are people searching for love in ev'ry way
It's a long hard fight
But I'll always live for tomorrow
I'll look back on myself and say I did it for love
Yes I did it for love - for love - oh I did it for love

1. Checkin in
I am really at a loss for words here. It is truly unfortunate that tampa "fans" are going to get to see a world series. There was probably not 2,000 fans in that stadium tonight that have gone to at least 1 game in each of the last 11 seasons. Am i a sore loser? You bet i am sore. It is painful to all of a sudden see a team win that had probably not averaged over 10,000 fans per game in any of the seasons of their existence until this year. I want to know how many fans even watched the rays before this year when the rays had not even been able to muster together more than 70 wins in a season. I can not, however, say the same for the players on the team. It is always nice to see young, low-paid(in terms of MLB)players get to the summit. This post/rant goes out to the true fans of the White Sox, Twins, Red Sox, and yes, even the Yankees, who stand behind their team 100 percent of the time, and those that always made the trip to the "TROP" because they loved their team so much. But, as John McCain so beautifully said some days ago: "Life isn't Fair." Most of us can agree with him on that one.

JLEE

.....And by the way, i wonder if tampa/st pete would even still have a team if it wasn't for the true fans from Chicago, New York, and Boston that went out of their way to go to the games there and acually pump some revenue into that shithole of a stadium that let that mass of shit they called a team play there. Go FUCK yourself Tampa Bay Rays "Fans"!!!!

2. Your anger and poor sportsmanship has magnified my
overwhelming joy, jrlee2.

I thought the Rays winning was enough, but little did I know you'd be able to intensify my happiness.

Know what?

You should go lose your composure in the corner, but make sure you take a cellphone picture of yourself and post it here so I can laugh at you.

Or I can give you my e-mail address. Let me know what works best for you.

RAYS!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

4. Bitter, bitter.
You'd think two world series rings AND an NBA championship AS WELL AS quite a few Super Bowl Championships would be enough for poor losers like you.

Greedy and bitter.

Not very attractive qualities nothingtoofear.

8. It has very, very little to do with the Red Sox not winning a WS this year
I did not expect them to win this year, i didnt even think they would beat the angels, but i stuck with em every step of the way, and that is the point i am trying to make. If you are a true fan, and you stuck with the rays since 98 through all of the terrible seasons, than i truly am happy for you. But collectively, the people at the trop tonight, at least what i believe, are not true fans. It is just a shame that the "fans" of the Tampa Rays just jump on the bandwagon after they won most of their games in april and then hitchhike all the way to the world series.

10. Listen, out of practically any team in MLB, being a Rays fan
would be the most challenging.

Look at their history before this season.

100-loss, or close to 100 losses every single year, embarrassing payroll (A-rod was making more than the entire team at one point), no commitment to winning, so zero hope for the future, shitty dome stadium, etc.

I don't blame people for staying away. Why should the fans (and we're talking before this season) reward failure with no hope for the future???

Okay, yea, they turned things around.

And yea, there will be bandwagon jumpers now.

But don't make it sound like it's so unusual for fans to start coming to the stadium when a team starts winning.

Those are the attendance trends. Teams that win draw well. Teams that don't win (at least most of them) draw shitty.

I think you're just mad your team didn't win and you're taking it out on the poor baseball fans in the Tampa-St. Pete area who haven't had shit to cheer about when it comes to baseball.

Are you going to be just as critical of South Florida fans?

The Marlins draw when they're succussful and they draw like crap when they don't win.

Isn't that right jrlee2?

the Rays TEAM deserves to be in the World Series. Tampa's only been around 10 years, it's hard to develop a large, hardcore fan following in only 10 years, especially when the team has never even come close to a winning season before. Hopefully, this will be the start of something in Tampa, and the fans will continue to turn out for years to come. I would love to see other cities develop a passion for baseball like you see in Boston, NY, Chicago, Philly and a few others. Growing up, my parents and grandparents brought me to Sox games and we loved to watch on TV. This upbringing is a large part of my devotion to the Boston teams today (particularly the Sox), but it's the sort of thing that hasn't had time to take root in Tampa yet. While I don't know if it will ever take root, I'm hopeful that it will, rather than go the way of the Braves. Yes, I know there are some Atlanta faithful, but it seems to me in a city of that size, for a team that's been there for more than 40 years and was very good for a long time, that they'd be able to at least sell out their playoff games.

21. I agree
The Rays have been awesome this year especially considering where they were this time last year.

I give them a great deal of credit and I'm glad the Sox (if they had to lose) lost to them.

Their appearance in the Series should bring fans to the park and I hope their loyalty and attendance continues.

The downside for the Rays is that they'll have to get used to losing their early position in the draft next year. :)

Congratulations to the Rays. Now go beat the Phillies!

As for my Red Sox, I must revive the mantra I have articulated through most of the 60 years of my life: wait till next year.
