For any SEC fans watching this NFC playoff game and feeling confused...

the white stuff falling from the sky is called "snow." I realize none of your teams have played in the "snow" before so I wanted to preempt the questions that were bound to come.

Also, on your behalf, I have forwarded an urgent fax to the NFL office asking them to postpone this game until there is appropriate football weather (probably July) or move it to a city in the South. One of those players might catch a chill or something!

I think it's safe to assume we know more than you think.

What does confuse me is how the Seahawks can fail time after time to stop the Packers on 3rd down :banghead:

Nice to see professional NFL players looking more like high school kids on some plays. Oh well, I don't mind these bad weather games if I'm watching on TV. Just wouldn't want to play in many of them.

As for SEC teams playing in the cold or snow, just how many examples do you want? Here are just a few......

Auburn played Arkansas in 1993. It was snowing and temperatures were in the low-20s.

Mississippi State beat Texas A&M on a field with 8 inches of snow 6-7 years ago.

Alabama beat Ole Miss 12-7 one year in the snow with frigid temperatures.

Tennessee upset Notre Dame in South Bend (1991?} with snow and below freezing temperatures.

Auburn once played Mississippi State with 1-2 inches of snow on the ground.

Tennessee and Kentucky have played each other in both snow and below freezing temperatures.

The top college bowl games and the Super Bowl are played in southern or western locations for a reason, and that reason is it is better for both the players and the fans. If you've ever played the game in extreme cold or during heavy rain, you will understand.

6. What about...
Georgia beating Michigan in 1964, Tennessee beating Notre Dame in 1991, Auburn beating Kansas State in 1978, Tennessee beating Syracuse in 1998, and many others? Why include conference doormats Vanderbilt and Kentucky? And what does any of this have to do with what's happening in the current college football world?

7. Read the title of the post
That post gives a chronology of the last time teams from the SEC played games in the North. If you want to see ALL games played in the North since the 1950's

Florida @ Northwestern 24-14 (9/18/65)

Georgia @ Michigan 0-26 (10/5/57)

Kentucky @ Indiana 15-26 (12/1/01) ** Game moved because of 9/11 **

Tennessee @ Notre Dame 21-41 (11/5/05)
Tennessee @ Notre Dame 28-18 (11/3/01)
Tennessee @ Notre Dame 35-34 (11/9/91)
Tennessee @ Boston College 18-20 (10/31/87)
Tennessee @ Rutgers (East Rutherford) 7-0 (10/29/83)
Tennessee @ Notre Dame 14-31 (11/11/78)
Tennessee @ Army 37-18 (9/22/73)

Alabama @ Penn State 17-16 (10/28/89)
Alabama @ Notre Dame 6-37 (11/14/87)
Alabama @ Penn State 17-19 (10/12/85)
Alabama @ Penn State 28-34 (10/8/83)
Alabama @ Penn State 31-16 (11/14/81)
Alabama @ Washington 20-17 (10/7/78)
Alabama @ Notre Dame 18-21 (11/13/76)

LSU @ Notre Dame 10-7 (11/23/85)
LSU @ Notre Dame 9-27 (9/12/81)
LSU @ Colorado 44-0 (9/15/79)
LSU @ Indiana 21-24 (9/17/77)
LSU @ Wisconsin 38-28 (9/25/71)
LSU @ Notre Dame 0-3 (11/21/70)

Mississippi @ Notre Dame 14-37 (11/9/85)

Vanderbilt @ Michigan 7-27 (9/2/06)
Vanderbilt @ Northern Illinois 17-7 (10/11/97)
Vanderbilt @ Notre Dame 0-41 (9/16/95)
Vanderbilt @ Cincinnati 34-24 (10/8/94)
Vanderbilt @ Indiana 13-44 (9/15/79)
Vanderbilt @ Cincinnati 7-33 (11/20/76)
Vanderbilt @ Army 38-14 (11/2/74)
Vanderbilt @ Boston College 6-19 (11/2/63)
Vanderbilt @ Marquette 23-6 (10/22/60)
Vanderbilt @ Minnesota 6-20 (10/31/59)
Vanderbilt @ Penn State 32-20 (10/19/57)

I am including Vanderbilt and Kentucky because they are members of the conference. Exclude them and the 10 remaining teams in the SEC have played 23 games in 50+ years in the North.

What does this have to do with the current state of college football? It goes back to the discussion about why the big bowl games are always played in the South. It goes to why teams from the South have a built-in advantage playing bowl games against opponents from northern climes. Teams from the North build teams to play in vastly different conditions than teams from the South. They then have to travel to the South to play bowl games against teams that have an unfair advantage.

It also points out that most teams in the SEC are wussies who don't like playing if the wind chill might get below 60.

8. You can't handle it, can you?
Florida beat Ohio State in Arizona last year, and it wasn't HOT? Ohio State beat Miami in Arizona a few years ago for the BCS title. Penn State beat Miami once. I call all these weather excuses BULLSHIT! I played football, and you play and practice in all kinds of weather conditions. The Big 10 starts practice in August and plays half their games before it ever gets cold. They have indoor practice facilities that are climate controlled. They go to the bowl site and practice several days to get acclimated. Michigan didn't seem too bothered by the weather in Orlando. They beat Florida's ass because they were better prepared and had just as much talent as Florida. LSU kicked Ohio State's ass because they were better prepared and had more experienced talent. It's as simple as that. The top 3-4 teams in the two conferences are close, but the SEC has a little more talent and more coaches with championship backgrounds. Also, the SEC is a tougher league from top to bottom, and they are better prepared for a war such as the BCS title game. Ohio State played far too many cupcakes this year.

You people wanting to play bowl games or BCS championship games in the north are looking for any excuse. You're grabbing at straws and making excuses.

10. Let's move all college football games scheduled for August, September, and October
to the North Pole so the Big Ten teams will feel at home. After all, they build their teams to only play in zero-degree weather with a driving snow and frozen field. That's football weather isn't it?

and all you can do is make excuses. It's so bad that you now want to play the games on ice with -48 degree wind chills. After all, the Big Ten builds their teams to only perform in snow and ice. What is a wiff? Is that a yankee wife?

If you want 72 degrees and no wind, watch Arena Football instead.

I still can't understand why Big Ten teams can't win in nice weather.
