1. He sucks but for some reason I have great fortune in his games
I focus on first half betting and when Joe Buck calls a game it's incredible how often I'll pull out the cover in the final minute or two of the first half. Just happened again when the Bears scored the late TD to cover the first half line. Game over, as far as I'm concerned.

Brent Musberger is notorious for having the underdog cover the game he is broadcasting. I've seen the numbers broken down in football and basketball and it's amazing, especially late in the season. There was one prominent radio broadcaster here in Las Vegas who used to find out in advance which game Musberger was calling and give it to his listeners so they could bet the underdog in that game.

2. I gotta be honest, I don't know why everyone hates Joe Buck.
He and Troy Aikman are a hell of a lot better than the other guys on Fox, or CBS for that matter.

3. Didya catch how stupid Buck is re the cleats?
He seriously didn't know if 5/8" cleats were longer or shorter than 1/2" cleats. At first I thought he was kidding, but then it became clear he was serious.

8. ...and what's with players "acclimating" to the field?
A player's cleats are either suitable for the field surface, or they're not. There's no "acclimating" to be done. It's not like the weather.

Buck's a moron.

9. I think Gumbel at least knows his limitations
And puts a little thought into his blathering. Buck will just talk mindlessly.

10. Yeah but Bryant Gumbel (his brother Greg is ok) just flat out misses calls
How can you have a play by play guy that can't do play by play very well?

How can the NFL do this on THEIR network!

11. True that...he doesn't come across as being on the ball, so to speak
I think they just grabbed whatever big name was available!

5. He ain't half the announcer
his old man was! And he seems to think he needs to be humorous all the time. So he's blathering on and on, while not really telling us what is happening on the field........

6. Jack Buck was great; I still miss him and Hank Stram doing Monday Night
games.

As for his son, the thing that most stands out for me is the conniption fit he threw when Randy Moss mimed mooning the crowd in Green Bay. Such delicate sensibilities to be drawing a paycheck from Fox.

7. That frickin' St. Louis homer.....
He was so obnoxious doing the World Series that I called Fox. Like they care!
