I know it must be killing ESPN and Faux but there is some good baseball being played here in the heartland as I have been saying all along. We know a little bit about how to play out here. Carpenter pitched well tonight, Pujols is proving that he is just plain good, and the Tigers won't go away. So all you coastal people, particularly east coast people, admit it, Midwest is best.

1. Major media markets do not guarantee best talent
Witness the #1 and #2 teams in college football.

HOW I wish that these major sports contests weren't all about ratings. Are east and west coast viewers so jaded or so snobby that they can't just enjoy a sport played well no matter what teams are playing? If left to make their own decisions, I think they can; it's the networks that cry about having to cover non-coast teams and that carries over.

3. "enjoy a sport played well"
Of course we enjoy a sport played well, let me know when that happens in this Series.

2. Good baseball?
Um what games are you watching?

I saw a rook with nothing dominate an impatient team.

I saw a 40 year old cheat for all the world to see.

I saw a 5 to nothing yawner in which the most exciting play was an error.

The Series is indeed competitive but so are royals-devil rays games

Staking your claim to how good baseball is in the MidWest on this Series is probably not the best idea.

4. Bottom line
Tigers and Cardinals are there, Yankees aren't. That alone makes it interesting to watch. I'm just tired of having the fucking yankees and red sox shoved down our Midwestern throats every damn day. White Sox won last year too. So I maintain, Midwest is best.

7. "Tigers and Cardinals are there, Yankees aren't."
That is fine. I can understand the sentiment. But the assertion that the baseball being played in this series is good just doesn't make it.

"White Sox won last year too. So I maintain, Midwest is best."

Debatable.

5. I am talking about sports in general
Not this particular WS although I don't think it's the yawner you believe it to be. Each to his own.

As I said, witness the #1 and #2 ranked teams in college football. Not from the east or west coast or the south and the media doesn't seem to know how to handle it. And, clearly, they are both worth watching.

6. Most of the top ranked teams are worth watching
West Coast, East Coast doesn't really matter. College football tends to be more South East/South centric anyway.

"yawner you believe it to be"

Last night was a yawner but as you say to each his own. The games have been competitive but not good baseball as asserted by the OP.

8. I hope the NY-based broadcasters aren't in too much shock
If they haven't discovered that the world is round, at least they now know there is something beyond the Hudson River.
