MLB will not allow Dirk Nowtizky to throw out the first pitch at the first game in
Texas this weekend, because of the NBA strike. Come on Nolan, man up, and let Dirk throw out the first pitch. Don't listen to shrub.

1. MLB is denying that it's because of the strike.
It's because he doesn't have "good broad-base national appeal."

Hey that rules out Rick Perry too!

3. I thought it was a lockout, not a strike?

5. Cool, thx.
Big difference, and one that we as Dems should be especially careful to note.

7. Hey, the Cards threw Jeff Suppan in Brewers fans faces....
Jeff- F'in - Suppan threw out a first pitch during the NLCS.

Suppan was easily the worst free-agent signing the Brewers ever made. 42 million for
a guy that had absolutely no margin for error with the strike zone. No fastball, and his
breaking stuff and off-speed pitches weren't that great either. His last couple of years
with the team -- the team ate the last few months of his contract -- were brutal.

What "national appeal" did Suppan have, except that he was also not-that-great in Pittsburgh,
Boston, Kansas City and one or two other MLB towns???
