I got yer realignment right here...
Edited on Mon Jun-13-11 05:52 PM by Auggie
Geographically... suggested by former Reds and Nationals GM Jim Bowden --LINK: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-your-morning-phil-realignment-hafner-cuban-20110613,0,7038076.story

American Eastern: Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Blue Jays.

American Central: Reds, Indians, Tigers, Twins, Pirates.

American Midwest: Cubs, White Sox, Royals, Brewers, Cardinals.

National Southeast: Braves, Orioles, Marlins, Rays and Nationals.

National Western: Diamondbacks, Rockies, Astros, Mariners, Rangers.

National California: Angels, Dodgers, A's, Padres, Giants.

"Bowden suggests two 15-team conferences, the American and the National, with the three divisions in each, essentially sticking to the current format. He also suggests expanding the playoffs from eight to 12 teams, not just 10. That might lessen the gripes from the three teams put into a division with the Red Sox and Yankees." This is where I disagree -- implement a salary cap, dedicated revenue sharing, or a combination of both so teams are on more of an equal footing. I'd also have to stick with a 14/16 split of divisions so inter-league play wouldn't be required season long.

And dump the DH rule.

More teams play in the same time zones, potentially greater rivalries are created, and travel times are significantly reduced.

Just do it.

2. Bullshit
and it's not my idea.

The 16/14 divisions would still play each other as they do now.

4. Yes you are...Phillies and Spankmes...
For the record, I think they should just leave it alone.

5. A salary cap evens the field for everyone...
won't work without it. MLB is barely sustainable under the current rules and alignment scenarios.

I'd love to see the Giants play the A's more often, and yes, even Cleveland and the Reds.

Philadelphia and Washington should be in the same division-- a nice rivalry is starting to develop . And HELL to the no to being in the same division as the AngelOs. That game is okay a few times a year but not long term
Also anything suggested by that crooked asshole Bowden should be avoided like the plague

19. I've never seen any of that.
And I'm tired of Nats revenue going to that greedy SOB Angelos. We don't need to be in that division fattening the wallet of the man who kept baseball from us for years.

11. If baseball was smart they'd weigh the schedule in favor
of tradiitonal rivalries so the Nationals and Phillies played each other more often. I would advocate doing the the same for teams like the Giants and Rockies.

Okay, it's a pipe dream. Bud Selig improve the game...?

15. So that way you'd have fewer 12-7 games
and more 13-9 ones. :eyes:

Ya can't put teams from the same city in the same division, even if it saves a ton of air miles. Screw this owner's rep. for trying to cut corners, to the detriment of the game.

13. I don't think NYC is willing to give up National League Baseball for the third time.
I don't think it will fly. I haven't thought about realignment at all, but two leagues with no divisions is fine with me.

20. I resemble that remark.
And hell no would I want the Mets in the AL.
They'd have to at the very least get rid of the DH rule first.

That would take some getting used to.
