My deepest condolences to Carolina fans here...
Gotta hurt to know you have about a decade of misery ahead of you. :grouphug:

1. Heh. Andy Reid will take the Eagles to another NFC championship in about eight years
with Cam Newton as their option QB. They will lose once again, this time to the Arizona Cardinals with their eight year veteran at QB, though everyone will call Reid a genius for getting the Eaglets this far. It will still be the Eagles and 53 years without a Super Bowl Win.

:D

2. All I know is he won't be taking them with Vick....
Last year was his one good year...by the end of the season the other teams figured him out...he has no other tricks up his sleeve.

3. Well let's see. The Eaglets should have about eight-nine wins this year...
2-Deadskins
2-Ginats (New York)
1-Patriots
1-Cardinals (Sorry Jon)
1-Dolphins
1-Jets
1-49ers
1-Seahawks

And to think I hate the Eagles.

:wtf:

5. In my experience
If you try to pencil in wins and losses before a season begins you'll end up dead wrong. I mean there will be games you had as wins that went down as losses and losses you had down turn out to be wins.

A lot changes year-to-year.

11. Swap out the Pats and Jets for a series sweep of the Cowpies
and you've got it. :P

9. Ha ha. There was a show on the other day about biggest draft busts
If they do the show in five years, my guess is that Cam Newton will have a good shot of replacing number one, Ryan Leaf.

14. I don't think Leaf will ever fall on that count...
the guy openly admitted he was in it for the money, fame and chicks and couldn't wait to retire, his own teammates hated him and allegedly (after he'd blown their season for them, being Ryan Leaf) would intentionally miss blocks on his blind side so he'd get creamed. It's possibly impossible to be a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf...that pick single-handedly ruined the career of everybody involved in making it for the Chargers organization.

Ryan Leaf is proof that (talent + combine-numbers) - (desire + drive) = BUST

If that's not the worst pick in history, then Ryan Leaf is the best job interviewee ever.

10. Check Out Newton's ESPN Interview with John Gruden...
Edited on Fri Apr-29-11 01:26 PM by Yavin4
Newton admitted that he never ran plays with a lot of complex verbiage. It's kind of sad:

Gruden tells him that the number one challenge is the verbage. The language of being a pro QB.

12. Ridiculously talented player
Exponentially more freakish than Young or Tebow.

For one thing, his throwing motion is terrific, unlike either of those guys and many of the high profile draft busts like crank-it-up Timmy Couch or sidesaddle David Carr.

Newton also has great variety of pace and loft. Carr was line drive prone. Jamarcus Russell had a fantastic deep arm but nothing close to Newton's flexibility on the short to intermediate stuff.

Above all, I love the theory that a handful of massive flops atop the draft lends itself to confidence there will be another one. LOL. You really think the percentage is destined to be 50% duds or greater?

Big hint: Doubt mediocrities. Logic and margin for error works in your favor, not against you.

After the Oregon game it appears too many fans actually believed Newton had slipped considerably, and wouldn't be taken in the top 10 or 15. Comical.

I don't like the guy, either. But I'd love to tie the Dolphins' fate to his shoulders for a decade.

13. There will be misery in Carolina as long as Richardson is in charge
He admitted that John Fox was done after the 2008 playoff collapse.

He kept him on the payroll for two years because he didn't want to pay severance.

Frankly I think it's inexcusable to string fans along with someone you have no faith in just because you're cheap.

The state just needs to accept that it's not a pro market and stick to winning college basketball games.
