Edited on Sun Nov-28-10 09:29 PM by El Supremo
just because of the fucking BCS rankings!

Wisconsin was only one place ahead of Ohio State. And A&M actually lost a position after beating Texas. And they beat OU!

Screw this shit.

2. Hey, El.
UCONN deserves a shot at the NC as much as TCU does.

6. I think both are the right choices
"Wisconsin was only one place ahead of Ohio State."

Wisconsin also beat Ohio State, so the "only one place" argument is rather weak.

"And A&M actually lost a position after beating Texas."

Just about everybody their side of Nebraska beat Texas this year. They won one game in the division, finished in last place in the south, and were the first team in the history of the Big 12 (I could be wrong about this, but I don't think so) to lose to both Baylor and Iowa State. At home no less. So I'm not seeing how beating Texas merits a big jump for the Aggies.

"And they beat OU!"

So? In a three way tie like this, one of the teams left out is going to have beaten the team that goes. They wouldn't be going to the BCS rankings otherwise. In some other conferences, A&M would be eliminated anyway by virtue of their overall record, which is inferior to the other two teams tied for the division lead. I guess that solution would be okay, but I don't think it would be inherently superior to what the Big 12 does now.

8. Officially it's a tie, OSU and Mich. St. are still champs
OSU and Mcihigan State are still officially co-Big Ten Champs with Wisconsin. The tiebreaker is just for the bowl invite. Since it was a 3 way tie and everyone didn't play each other it dropped to the BCS rankings. If Michigan St. had lost one more, Wisconsin still would have gotten the invite due to the head to head matchup.

10. Even if it's a bowl bid tiebreaker I hate to see BCS standings count for anything
In the old days the Big Ten used longest Rose Bowl drought as a tiebreaker, which seems as fair as anything if you can't use head-to-head - and it's good for the fans of schools enjoying renewed success. This year that would have sent MSU.

And no, I don't care if the BCS powers-that-be would rather have one of the higher-ranked teams. The BCS is a BS replacement for a real playoff, and rankings are little more than popularity contests anyway - even with the computers.

12. Do you favor a playoff?
Seeing how you seem to favor Ohio State over Wisconsin, even though Bucky Badger's charges knocked off the Buckeyes when they were number one in the rankings, I have to ask you, sir, do you favor a playoff?

Maybe a playoff, featuring the conference champions - all of them, not just the so-called "automatic" teams, as well as the top one or two independent teams, would be pleasurable compared to this BCS stuff.

What stands in the way of a true playoff is the greed of the bowl games and the university presidents, as far as I can tell.

Ah, well, the closest I come to a playoff is when I play my old SI College Football board game, which later became "Bowl Bound".

13. I don't like any Big 10 team. And I'm not in favor of a playoff tournament.
A tournament would add weeks to the football season. These kids are supposed to be studying. Also they would risk injury in additional games.

Just go back to the old bowl system where certain conference champions go to certain bowl games. And let the AP decide who is number one. There is no need for a fake national championship game.

14. It's all about money.

The "fake national championship game" makes a ton of money. And Notre Dame automatically gets a bowl bid if it has at least a .500 season simply beause it's a huge TV draw. Personally, I was hoping for a TCU vs. Boise State championship game!
