to finish the season. This includes their last 5 at home. Awfully coincidental that this happened after the Giants got MLB to crack down on their phony humidor tricks.

After years of public grousing, which heightened in recent weeks, Major League Baseball has ordered changes in how the baseballs are removed from the Rockies’ humidor and monitored during games.

The new procedures began today and will remain through the remainder of the season following Giants GM Brian Sabean’s discussion with MLB official Joe Garagiola Jr. The changes are as follows: an umpire will enter the humidor and carry out the game-use baseballs and the baseballs must remain in the umpire’s view during the game. The fundamental change is seeing the baseballs removed from the humidor, which is located just down the hall from the Rockies’ clubhouse. Before there was no supervision — the balls carried out by a batboy.

I wouldn't mind if the story was from SFGate or whatever. As long as it wasn't speculation was all I was concerned about. It still doesn't say the Rockies were engaging in trickery but glad there was a proper chain-of-custody brought in.
