The Mike Singletary watch...
I guess it takes more than being a tough guy?

Mid-season?

2. Possibly... how else do you address being out-coached,
out-thought, out-played, out-manned, out-hustled, out-everything?

It was a debacle, from start to finish.

BTW, K.C. is the real deal.

3. Hasn't that happened in all three games to the 49er's??

4. I thought they played New Orleans tough...
either that or The Saints were playing down to them.

Today was worse than the Seattle opener -- a total train wreck. The game plan on both defense and offense were totally neutralized by K.C.

5. To be fair, today was a near certain loss
Horrific scheduling situation, a road non-division game after a Monday Night outing against the defending Super Bowl champs. On betting message boards the Chiefs were touted in this game as soon as the schedule was released months ago.

I'm amazed the 49ers were favored. The devastating nature of the loss to the Saints made it even more likely that San Francisco would come out flat.

6. he's toast
Singletary is sounding more and more like Nolan every week. He is way in over his head and so is Jed York.

7. Could depend how sincere ownership is in trying
to create a power running game. We know it's Singletary's goal. Is that echoed by York, Marathe, Baalke, et al? The problem is the team apparently does not have the player personnel -- or else it has not developed yet or been properly coached -- to be that type of offense.

The 49ers were much more effective last year when in mid-season they switched to the type of spread offense in which offense Alex Smith is used to. With the receiving corps of Morgan, Davis and Crabtree, and Gore receiving from the backfield, a passing-heavy game plan makes more sense to me.

It's that a coaching issue? A front office issue? Or both?
