Final Breeze for Rachel Alexandra
In her final preparation for the July 24 Lady’s Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park, reigning Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra breezed a half-mile in :49 3/5 over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga July 19.

The final time for the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro trained by Steve Asmussen was 18th fastest of the day among 37 working the distance.

The $400,000 Lady’s Secret, at 1 1/8 miles, will be the first start for the champion since she notched her first win of the year with a 10 ½-length triumph in the Fleur de Lis (gr. II) at Churchill Downs June 12.

Thanks two gun sid! I was dozing off here.

2. Zenyatta voted Hollywood's Horse of the Meet
ZENYATTA (Street Cry ), who ran her unbeaten streak to 17 with a stirring victory in the Vanity H. (G1) on June 13, was voted Horse of the Meet in the annual media poll as Hollywood Park's 57-day spring/summer season concluded Sunday.

Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, trained by John Shirreffs and ridden by Mike Smith, Zenyatta has now been selected Horse of the Meet the last three years, the third horse to achieve the honor, but the first female. The others are Lava Man (2005-07) and Native Diver (1965-67).

Zenyatta was also voted the top older female.

3. Strong works for Super Saver and Quality Road
ELMONT, N.Y. - Two days before they are to ship to Saratoga for the summer, Quality Road and Super Saver, two of the stars of trainer Todd Pletcher's barn, put in strong workouts Sunday morning over Belmont Park's main track.

Though Quality Road's work didn't go as planned, the leading older horse in the country still went five furlongs in 58.78 seconds, according to Daily Racing Form. It was the fastest of 32 works at the distance.

Quality Road was scheduled to work in company with a stablemate, but about a furlong away from the start of the work, the stablemate wheeled, unseated his rider, and ran off for about three furlongs before being corralled by an outrider. The horse was quickly taken off the track and returned to the barn, unharmed, according to Pletcher.
