5. All I know is that the Nationals WILL finish over .400 this season!
A Cinderella story if there ever was one!!

Leave that .364 of 2009 for the history books, the Nats are back!

7. Ah, but my dearest zoot...
.500 is also over .400. Not that the Nats need be concerned with such a lofty 50/50 win percentage.

8. the nats need some starters and some relievers before .500 is a possibility
I'll give you .400 because their offense will win some games.

10. They played over .500 ball the last month or so of the season
And they've picked up a few veteran pitchers and receivers. I think its entirely possible.

14. Against teams using 3rd stringers because they had nailed down playoff berths?
Hmmmm...or was it the Mets and the Braves, two teams phoning it in by season's end.

12. C'mere Jack, let me give you a kiss...
LOL. I like the way you think.

Manny's in the out year of his contract. He's gotta prove to the AL that he can be a DH worth paying for. I say he bats .290+ with 30+ homers. Either that, or Torre sits him and he gets traded mid-season. Bad thing about that is the Dodgers will have to pay him to play somewhere else. Worried about his legs though. I'm tired of seeing him jog to fly balls.

Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 06:38 PM by Jack Rabbit
. . . so I hope I'm wrong.

Unless we get to see the expression on Steinbrenner's sour puss when he's watching the tube when the Dodger players give Joe Torre a champagne shower. Now, that would be worth it.

17. Given your geographical location, I see no reason for you not to be a Gnats fan.
Torre winning a WS in Dodger Blue would be the ultimate zing for the Steinbrenner family.

I don't see how the Dodgers can lose the NL West, and we've owned the Cardinals for a couple of years, but getting past Philly? I'm crossing my fingers.

25. If The Brewers Ever Get To The World Series Again,
I'll drop over dead, so I won't be able to see it. And I'm a Brewer fan. First half of the season is a teaser for the little guys, then the hammer comes down, and the usual suspects will be there.

20. Picking the Mariners in the AL West.
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 04:45 AM by travelingtypist
That's all I really care about. And I don't think it's spring wishful thinking, either. With the Mariners getting Figgins from the Angels and the Angels losing Lackey while we picked up Lee, I think all four teams are going to be in the mix with the Angels' run at the top (five of the last six division titles) being done.

23. Actually it was mostly random
Rockies are my favorite team so I put them as winners, threw the Phillies in there, didn't include the Yankees because I don't like them and from there I picked my favorite teams out of the AL Central, East, West. I like the Cubs out of the NL Central so there. My two wild card picks were a little educated as both of those teams I could see making the postseason or getting close to it.

24. I think the Mariners do have a shot of going far
especially if they can get a healthy year out of Bedard. That's an insane murderer's row of Felix-Lee-Bedard. Should they make it to the playoffs with those three intact, they could go quite far.

27. Yeah, that's the worry, 3 through 5 without Bedard.
Edited on Wed Mar-03-10 02:31 PM by travelingtypist
The other worry is the lack of power. Ichiro and Figgins are going to get on, but the Ms let Branyan's 31HR walk and brought in a head case like Milton Bradley? Griffey's a fine man, but he's not a magician. (Jr's implicit job in addition to DHing occasionally and being a presence in the clubhouse is to be a mentor of sorts to MB, who has said that Griffey was one of his idols growing up.) Wakamatsu did everything he could to reform slacker Yuni Betancourt last year to no avail. I'd hate to see a repeat of that, but I'm not hopeful.
