Thank god Boise State didn't play either of the teams tonight. They
would have kicked some serious ass tonight.

WHY THE FUCK IS GEORGIA TECH IN A BCS BOWL GAME!

An absolute disgrace.

3. The Ga Tech Bumblebees lost because......
They have ZERO passing game. They got killed in their bowl by LSU last year and the Hawgeyes this year.

4. I'm going to make you regret posting this in the morn', mad.
Like a fucking trick play of Boise State would work against Iowa. That's where good coaching and smart as hell players, comes in.

6. A fake punt ISN'T a trick play. The Statue of Liberty play is, the Flea-flicker is, but a fake punt
ISN'T. The fake punt is an act of desperation. In the case of Boise State, it was attempted at the perfect time, and caught TCU totally flat-footed.

Defense. You either know how to do it, or you don't.

5. Georgia Tech's style of offense allows them to overachieve in the regular season
It's always been that way. If you want to out perform your talent level by several games, run the triple option. I win wager after wager on them all season. That offense lends itself to team oriented physical football. Then the bowl game shows up and often you've earned a matchup against a team that simply is superior to your level, and you have little chance.

I always get a kick out of the simplistic argument that option teams can't win in bowl games because the opponent can study them for a month. Meanwhile, Switzer was 5-0 combined in bowl games against Paterno, Bowden and Osborne.

If Paul Johnson can upgrade his talent level, he'll be fine in January bowls. If he continues to be stuck with plodding types like Josh Nesbitt, no chance. The Georgia Tech option is nowhere near as fast or explosive or varied as the great option teams of the '60s through '80s. Here's an example, Oklahoma from 1981:
