Wow! A Red Sox Fan Showed Some Maturity
Naaaah! That'll never happen. That's like Bush showing some compassion for the poor.

1. I'd say something about the pot calling the kettle etc.
But I'm feeling too mellow this morning.
besides I'm off to see the Mets.

4. Yankees fans are the worst.
I lived in NYC for nearly 10 years. They hate the Red Sox fans almost as much as they hate the Sox themselves.

But, in fairness, the Sox fans are the same way about the Yankees and their fans.

It's the sports version of the Hatfields and the McCoys.

5. This whole exchange over the past two days
has really made me question the Yanks' fans.

7. You have to understand that their entire world has overturned
The Yankees always win and the Red Sox always lose. This was an article of faith among the Yankee fans for years and years. To have a) been the only team ever in the 100+ year history of Major league baseball to blow a 3-0 lead in a series to the Red Sox of all people and then to b)watch the Red Sox win the world series has shattered that faith. They are vunerable and are lashing out. You could feel some sympathy but hey these are the Yankees we're talking about.

15. For me, the saddest part
about the venom I've seen from *ahem* certain Yankee fans here is this:

26 rings in 100 years. A run in the 90's for the books. The whole history of baseball woven with Yankee blue.

But they just can't seem to summon the ability to let the Sox have their one year of championship good-feeling. One measly year.

Like I said below, tho, it also might have something to do with the Yanks sitting in the cellar with Tampa Bay.

10. So let me get this straight.
A Yankee fan or two, and I'm not saying who or whom, began ranting and raving about the topic, and went on and on. But now there's a problem if others do the same thing?

Hmmmmm.

12. Yankee fans are victims now, to be pitied
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 12:59 PM by WilliamPitt
Didn't you get the memo?

Might have something to do with them being tied for last place with Tampa Bay.

It's sad to see, really. Pathetic, even.

4-6 Yankees off to worst start since 1991

(snip)

At 4-6 the Yankees are off to their worst start since 1991. With Alex Rodriguez at .205, Jason Giambi at .219 and Tino Martinez hitting .182, New York is batting .254 as a team.

Pavano yielded seven runs, three earned, and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

22. It has been a while,
since I've seen so many workaholic martyrs. I'm definitely reminded of the mall preachers from my undergrad years.

16. Life Has Never Been Better For Me Actually
You see, I don't wrap my entire identity in a sports team. However, when I see several copycat threads, I will respond.

I've said over and over congratulations on your win. The Yankees and their fans have shown nothing but class and respect to the Red Sox and their fans. Read Dan Shaughnessey's (sp?) new book about the Red Sox win last year. Read the part about how Steinbrenner allowed Red Sox fans and players to dance and celebrate at Yankee Stadium well into the night and long after the place was empty. I'm sorry to disappoint you Will, but I, and other Yankees fans, didn't fall to pieces after the Red Sox won. We didn't become unglued. Yankees fans have moved on. Sorry that we didn't committ mass suicides.

However, when one of our players gets hit in the face by a fan during a play and there are tons of threads here DEFENDING the fan for his behavior that's what's upsetting.

18. All This Board Has Become Is A Bash Yankees Fest
24/7. I have no bitterness. I'm just standing up for what's right. No fan has the right to interfere with a live ball and hit a player in his face. How is that bitterness?

LOL. Like I said, highly entertaining.

24. Let those who are anti-Yankee
enjoy themselves now. The Yankees will be back on top come the fall. And when that happens, I hope all Yankee fans show the class they are famous for, and not rub it in.

21. LOL!
That reminds me of work, all too much. The alcoholic who's hungover today, telling me that everything's better now. He doesn't need anyone's help. The bulimic who's heart rate is below 40 on top of orthostasis, saying she's suddenly learned her lesson. She doesn't need help either. Everything is suddenly OK. The world is better. All is well. The guy who cut his wrists last night, suddenly says his mood is stable and he's motivated to turn it around, and he can do it all by himself. Everything is great. Never better.

Uh huh. Whatever you say, dude.
