Chamber of commerce eyes Islanders move to Queens
Well, if the Islanders have to move I suppose I could live with it. Not really be entirely happy about it. Granted, Queens is geographicly on Long Island but the folks that live there consider it "the City". The Islanders BELONG ON LONG ISLAND!!!!! They are OURS. THE ONLY THING THAT IS TRULY OURS.

That's how I feel about it. I was looking forward to them just rennovating the Colliseum. That building is just loud as fuck and there is no other in the NHL.

As far as the negotiations with the Town of Hempstead I'm becoming of the opinion that Wang and Murray are both part of the same asshole. We Islanders fans have to be the most abused fans in professional sports.
--------------------------------------------

The luring of the Islanders is officially underway.

Less than two days after Charles Wang said he is ready to explore all his options, the executive vice president of the Queens Chamber of Commerce said Wang's search should begin in his borough.

"Option number 1 should be Queens," Jack Friedman said. "We are ready for him."

Friedman believes a potential new home for the Islanders would fit perfectly as a centerpiece in the city's plans for the Willets Point area. The project is still in the early stages; Friedman said ground-breaking probably won't take place for another four or five years.

But the Islanders' lease with Nassau County stipulates that they must play their homes games through 2015, so the team is still six seasons from a potential move, anyway.

"You're talking about a property that has access to the Long Island railroad, the subway system, the airports," he said. "It already has a huge parking lot because of Citi Field. It already has the parkway access. It's so ready for a development like this. The Lighthouse project would be a perfect fit."

4. I guess it would still make more sense than the Pittsburgh Pirates
I mean, as we all know, there is tons of buried pirate booty in Pittsburgh.

5. Considering there are three rivers there, it is quite possible there is.
Allegany, Monongehela, and Ohio Rivers.

6. I wouldn't mind that too much...
it would make it easier for me, living in Connecticut, to get to more than just one or two Islanders games every 5 years.

9. Queens is actually on Long Island
it borders Nassau County on the west.

Anyway, the L.A. Lakers didn't bother when they left the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Ditto the Utah Jazz*. :dunce:

10. True. But that doesn't make Jazz in Utah or Lakers in LA less stupid.
