Come on, pitchers and second basemen? There is only one athletic position that transcends sports. Worldwide, Muhammad Ali is like Babe Ruth times 7 billion. And that would be the case even if their careers were exactly parallel in terms of what years they encompassed.

The most basic trump card: "I can kick your ass, his ass, and anyone else on this planet."

On edit: whoops, I forgot to add a second choice. That's simple also; the best golfer on the planet. It's a worldwide obsession and you do it better than anyone else. Potentially less ear damage than heavyweight.

You can make a ton of money, don't have as much wear and tear (your back, if anything), meet pro-am types for business connections, get to play the best courses in the world, and can play even when you're old.

Second choice - smooth shooting 2 guard in the NBA.

Even though I am a baseball nut it would have to be golf, which I love also. 30 year career and then the senior tour, tons of endorsement deals, corporate events, etc and if you want to take a few weeks off they can't fire you. Be a little tough dealing with the snobbishness, but you don't have to spend all your time with the country club boys.

Second, and first if choosing for a single season, baseball. Preferably for the White Sox, any position, I've played and love em all.

2nd: Formula 1 driver (they have to train like other athletes)

26. Easy Choice For Me

1) Professional Golfer - Can easily stay in the field and make a healthy living for 30+ years.

2) NBA Point Guard - I could play some when i was younger, but stopped growing at 5'9". Even though i could jump out of the gym, it's awfully hard to see the potential to work hard enough to try being a pro at five-nine. Of course, i'd have to have the legs i had then, not the ones i have now. (48 years old with MS.) I couldn't play a lick now.
