Jets' Ryan clarifies remarks on Belichick but likely provides more fodder
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Rex Ryan's mouth is at it again.

One day after using an expletive during his training-camp news conference to tweak his former team, the New York Jets' brash coach might have ramped up the rivalry with New England by saying he's "not intimidated" by Patriots counterpart Bill Belichick.
Ryan's first test?
It won't take long for Rex Ryan to put his money where his mouth is: The Jets host the Patriots in Week 2. Check out NFL.com's interactive regular-season schedule to see all the Jets' 2009 opponents. More ...

Ryan said during a radio interview a few months ago that he didn't come to New York "to kiss Bill Belichick's rings." He explained Tuesday what he meant, adding he's "not trying to be disrespectful."

"When I said that about Belichick, I'm just letting him know I'm not intimidated by him," Ryan said. "He's got the same position I have. We're both head coaches in this league. He just happens to have a hell of a lot more Super Bowl wins. I don't have a win. I understand that, but we're not going to tiptoe our way through this thing.

"You don't line up and beat a Bill Belichick-coached team by tiptoeing in there."

The media eats this shit up, but I have problems with what Ryan is saying here, and I bet Belichick doesn't wither.

1. A loose cannon....
...they should have kept the other guy, the one Favor got fired because they thought it wasn't Favor's fault that they sucked.

3. Yeah, I recalled that after I hit post...
...although his dragging out of the QB battle in Cleveland doesn't inspire much confidence in me.

Hopefully the Jets will be able to stick it to the Pats this year.

5. Apple doesn't fall from the tree.
Rex Ryan IS Buddy Ryan's son. This is probably the first of many stupid things he will say.

6. I love the trash talk.
Buddy Ryan wasn't a good head coach but he was a great defensive coordinator and talent evaluator and he talked great smack. I suspect the Jets will find the same thing about Rex.

7. Maybe when Darth Belichick hits Ryan with a blast of Force Lightning
when he goes in for a handshake he'll feel differently.

9. LOL...I meant to say I don't have problems with what Ryan said.
And the last word should be "either".

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.
