Four more years for Pedro? Not likely to happen in Boston
The Boston Red Sox are expected to offer arbitration to all their big-name free agents today, including Pedro Martinez. It is a move that ensures Boston will receive draft picks if those free agents sign elsewhere.

If Martinez demands a four-year contract and some team like the New York Mets is willing to give it to him, say goodbye to Pedro.

In the Red Sox's way of thinking, he is just not worth it.

We're not speaking of the prima donna ways of Pedro, although his act does get old.

The reference here is to his effectiveness.

2. he definitely is not worth signing for four years guaranteed
offer him 3 years guaranteed with a club option for a fourth year that could be activated based upon an average number of starts/innings/K's and wins.

As much as I'd love to see Pedro retire with the Sox and see a 45 on the facade, I'd rather see the club continue to operate like a winner. The Patriots were willing to let Lawyer Milloy and Drew Bledsoe go, the Red Sox have to be willing to do the same. It's all well and good to talk about loyalty to players but that loyalty should be returned in kind from the players. If Pedro really wants to stayhere and wants a four year deal...well fine...rather than a 4 year $48million deal make it 4 years $40 million with the first three being for $12/year and the fourth being for $4

4. Oh that Pedro. I was thinking Napoleon Dynamite
and hoping he didn't have to stay in high school four more years, though he looked 35 anyway.
