Giants lose a marathon in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH — When President Obama shook hands with Tim Lincecum at the All-Star Game, he asked the Giants' ace how he generates so much power for a man his size.

Republican strategists might be wondering the same thing about Obama.

A more topical inquiry for the Giants as they resumed play out of the break Friday night: Can their meager offense generate enough oomph to keep them in the playoff picture?

The Giants' offense could use any kind of bounce with the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaching. Lincecum is fast become a leading voice in the clubhouse, but he wouldn't issue any public pleas for a hitter.

Hmmm, 7 games under .500 on the road, next to last in the League in OPS, and now hints of grumbling in the clubhouse over their lack of offense. Could be a long second half.

1. Isn't that crankboy's rag that you are quoting?
I think he must be their ace reporter.
