Timmy off to rocky start in second half against Pirates
Fiest batter in first inning hit deep drive to left field before being caught. Timmy did make an excellent catch in foul ground after second batter let him off the hook by swinging at ball four on a 3-1 count. Then he went 3-1 on the next batter, Garrett Jones, before Jones took him deep to dead center field for a home run.

Well so far it looks like Timmy is having control problems. We'll have to monitor this game closely. Will the much derided Pirates defeat Timmy in the first game after the all-star debacle?

This just in: Timmy has just walked a batter in the second inning....

1. Yeah...Tim had a rough night
7 IP, 1 run 5 hits 10 Ks

Shouldn't you be getting ready to watch your Dodgers* and their juiced up LF?

How things have changed, the same LA fans that booed Bonds and condemned the Giants are now acting like teenage girls as they gush over the Dodgers* admitted cheater Manny.

2. Hopefully the Giants win -- and none of this is Lincecum's fault, because he
pitched like Cy Young this evening.

However, it's really inexcusable how much the Giants have stunk tonight against an atrocious team.

The Giants never play well in Pittsburgh and I don't know what it's going to take to get them psyched and motivated against the bad teams. They never played well in Montreal for the same reason, and they never played will in Chicago when the Cubs used to lose ah thousand games a year. :eyes:

As the Giants are learning then and tonight, you just can't lay down against horrible teams and expect the "W" to be delivered on a silver platter.

What I'm witnessing is a postcard example of why I dread playing the awful franchises. Give me St. Louis or Los Angeles so I know they're pumped up and fuckin trying.

I'd rather they were playing a better team too. If they don't respect the Pirates you have to admit they have good reason not to.

I notice Onceuponalife has now disappeared once it became evident that Lincecum was again showcasing the quality that makes him the best.

Edit: Billingsley just gave up 4 runs on 6 hits in the top of the 1st against Houston

4. You two should wait until they actually lose before making excuses.
This preemptive whining is just sad.

5. The game is in extra innings
the subject of this thread, the great Tim Lincecum, is out of the game...having pitched with not only his unmatchable stuff but with grit and determination too.

7. He settled down nicely after a bad start
10 K's is impressive, I'll give you that. But he also gave up several deep drives (3 off the bat of McCutcheon alone) that were flagged down at the warning track. Seems the ball isn't carrying tonight, more's the luck for Timmy. Hardly a Cy Young type performance.

I'm just sick about Billingsley and his atrocious first inning but that's the way it goes. It seems they have had a very hard time against the 'Stros this season, but I won't make excuses.

9. Acually I wouldn't be surprised
if a lot of All Star pitchers first start after the break goes a bit rocky, their whole schedule is thrown off.

11. You can't possibly be counting "several deep drives" as part of your
evaluation of Tim's pitching performance! :wtf:

His ERA dipped from 2.33 to 2.27

Come on now!!

8. Yea, Billingsley pretty mmuch single handedly lost the game for the NL
and he's picking up right where he left off.

As I predicted, the Dodgers are off to an embarrassing start to the second half and it will only get worse as the Giants -- and even the overrated lame ass Rockies -- move in.

19. It has been years since I've seen the Giants play a more disgraceful
game.

Cy Young pitcher against the worst team in baseball, and you have to win.

Hopefully this is a wake-up call.

22. I know but these kind of games make me so mad.
And what a terrible pick-up by Sabean in Renteria.

The guy goes a staggering 0-for-6 against a last place team .. with 4 LOB's, and is now hitting .255

I mean :wtf:

24. Yeah..he hasn't exactly been Mr Clutch
he also grounded into a DP.. I can't remember the last time he had a big hit and his fielding range is limited because of his age...

I don't want them giving up top prospects at the trading deadline though, I'd rather they go with what they've got.

your pathetic Pirates move to 11 games under, I guess when you're on the verge of your 17th consecutive losing season even the smallest victories seem like WS wins.

Have your fun now, it won't last.
