Churches Link For Global Issues

This is where the change begins and it is heartening. I'm going to be calling churches in my town starting tomorrow and asking them if they are aware of the movie, An Inconvenient Truth and this effort by other churches. Hopefully, I can get some of them to turn their congregations on to seeing the movie and making real changes in their lives and spreading this truth to help mitigate this crisis. This is EXACTLY what Mr. Gore hopes will be accomplished as well. We don't have time to sit on our butts and think this will somehow be fixed without US doing something other than talking on message boards to get this truth out. Believe me when I say that taking to the streets to talk to people about this is a very good thing.

I am also rereading Mr. Gore's book and studying each and every slide and graphic while taking notes and writing questions. Whether I get to go to Nashville as a trainee or not ( and I so hope I do ,) I will be taking it upon myself to get this information out locally.

Whether you are a spiritual person, you support Al Gore's mission and vision on this issue or not, but more importantly regardless of your political or religious beliefs, non beliefs, etc., if you care for this planet, you need to start thinking about what you are going to do to save her for the future.

Just from my reading and taking notes last night, I know that CO2 accounts for 80% of greenhouse gas emissions (plus what other emissions such as methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, water vapor, and other chemicals cause to happen in the atmosphere,) and humans are complicit in those emissions rising which is causing the repercussions we are already seeing play out in many regions of the world, particularly in the Antarctic, Greenland, and the Arctic.

In 2005 we were at 381 parts per million up from pre industrial concentrations of 280 parts per million, and at this point if present conditions persist we will almost double that in the coming years. DO you then think we have time to now sit and only talk about it? We have the resources and the power necessary to begin to heal this planet, which I truly believe will also heal our souls. It's time to get started.
