Richard Dawkins Goes To Heaven!
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 10:29 PM by onager

At last! Some sophisticated, nuanced theology!

Anthony Whor...er, Horvath has written 3 short stories about Mother Theresa, Antony Flew and Richard Dawkins going to heaven.

Horvath claims these very short masterpieces took him 2 years to write. That reminds me of a quote from Stephen King: "If anyone takes seven years to finish a novel, that writer is not Thinking Deep Thoughts. That writer is Dicking Off."

Which is apt in this case. Judging by the near-pornographic glee in the Dawkins story, Horvath seems to have spent a lot of that 2 years typing one-handed.

Science fiction fans may notice that Horvath apparently ripped off an old (and very famous) Harlan Ellison story for the Dawkins bit.

Oh, and when you get to heaven, Jesus may be disguised, but you'll recognize him by his hol(e)y hands.

I'm linking to these at Pharyngula because (a) all three yarns are discussed at length and (b) I always love to see the Usual Suspects in R/T screeching "P.Z. Myers is a bigot."

1. There's a subset of religious folk that go for torture porn big time.
Ask yourself which film tops Time's list of insanely violent films (actually called Time's Top Ten Ridiculously Violent Movies, officially.) You got that one right, my friend, it's "The Passion of the Christ." It's way ahead of "I Spit on Your Grave," probably a superior film. :)

2. That list is not accurate. The only movie on that list I have not seen is The Wild Bunch.
I own movies significantly more violent than many of the movies on that list. Izo, Ichi the Killer, Chinese Torture Chamber Story, Men Behind the Sun, The Beyond, August Underground, Atrocity, Meatball Machine, Tokyo Gore Police, Machine Girl, many zombie movies, ...

Passion of the Christ, Cannibal Holocaust, and I Spit on your Grave (original) are very violent in their own ways. I don't understand the other selections.

3. Epic fail.
I can almost imagine the story going away from where he wanted in his head so he just slaps a "well, it isn't, but it is at the same time, so there!"
