2. Use of visceral imagery to attach a feeling to a word.
The religion of marketing and PR use that also.

On a side note: Many might think my posts are about religion. It is about how people think on religion, and if they do think on what it means to them. Not about some religion, but about how some don't know what they believe they do.

Fox news used the same visceral imagery when trying to fight against health care, by picking words that invoke a macro about thoughts of rape, and your post even includes child rape in your imagery.

Are you using child rape to make your point? Why not explain without doing that?

3. The original source is just turning-around the right-wing imagery upon its usual source.

We intend to force Freedom down their throats until Equality and Tolerance dribble down their chins, and Peace sticks to their chest hairs.

Amen.

Still a bit visceral, and actually the way most of them works is not forcing things down peoples throats.

They get things to come out of peoples throats the way they want them said, mostly by other methods.

It is easy to do visceral.

13. or, if you lack a penis, you lack religion.
But I always figured that if you were religious, you were required to reject and denounce the penis. You know, turn your back on worldly things.

15. Maybe for some, their penis IS their religion?
Kanamara Matsuri
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kanamara Matsuri (かなまら祭り, "Festival of the Steel Phallus"?) is an annual Shinto fertility festival held in Kawasaki, Japan in spring held in Kanayama shrine (金山神社). The exact dates vary: the main festivities fall on the first Sunday in April. The penis forms the central theme of the event that is reflected everywhere—in illustrations, candy, carved vegetables, decorations, and a mikoshi parade.

The Kanamara Matsuri is centered around a local penis-venerating shrine once popular among prostitutes who wished to pray for protection against sexually transmitted diseases. It is said that there are divine protections also in business prosperity and the clan's prosperity, easy delivery, marriage, and married couple harmony. There is also a legend of a sharp-toothed demon that hid inside the vagina of a young girl and castrated two young men on their wedding nights (vagina dentata). As a result, the young girl sought help with a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon's teeth, leading to the enshrinement of the item.

Today, the festival has become somewhat of a tourist attraction and is used to raise money for HIV research.<[br />

21. Notice that the Hebrew scriptures
require males to be redecorated. The fact that that is the only body part singled out gives us a clue to the thinking of the authors.

it can also be explained as a health thing... their soap was not antibacterial back then.

17. K&Rrrrrrrrr!!!
Ian, you've outdone yourself this time, sir. Just wonderful! On the other hand, I'd like to offer a few alternative editorial considerations:

Religion is a penis. How so, you may ask?

Though allusions of its existence and prominence are ubiquitous, it stays mostly out of sight.

Whenever sex is mentioned or there is a threat of the exposure of skin arising, so it arises.

Once it becomes engorged with the idea of its own importance it immediately attempts to stick its head into someone else's business.

And yet always, whenever it is given a cold blast of rejection it loses its bluster and its sense of dominance, and then shrinks back into its tiny world -- waiting another day to spring forth.

People without one are assumed to suffer from "envy"?

Immature people argue over whose is the biggest?

The list is endless ...
