The horrors of the fundie mindset.
Edited on Sun Jun-13-10 10:41 PM by hyphenate
One of my FB friends left this link for me and many others, and to be honest, I don't think I have ever found a site so rampant with tendentiousness, nor so bigoted against anyone who isn't a "Xtian." Xtian in this case is a brain-numbed fundie, who should probably be locked up for the massive crimes against humanity--and grammar and spelling--she commits within this site.

One of the greatest jokes I've ever seen on the 'net, the site's name and URL pretty much say it all.

http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/index.htm

We have all felt the impact and damage the RRR has committed over the years, and while some might call them harmless, I do not, as they are NOT harmless. Their ideas, their beliefs and their morals are against everything that the US was created with--indeed, our personal freedoms, our ability to freely discuss our government, and our ideas of what should be happening in these times, are targets for these people to destroy--to seek, subdue and subjugate in line with their terrifying plans.

Just like Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, these people are mentally unstable, and completely believe their insane thoughts. Just like any other fundamentalist, they will not rest until their thoughts become the reality of our country, and probably, the world's.

On the main page, about halfway down, the site's author leaves this message: "THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT BE HERE FOREVER.
PRINT OUT AND BIND ARTICLES OF INTEREST." I can only hope that this woman seeks professional help, because like so many other nutcases online, there is a great danger of people believing her insane commentary.

I was getting nauseous just reading the front page, and the one entitled, "Was Martin Luther King a Christian?" I can't honestly recommend anything worth reading except in its broader commentary of the workings of a fundie brain, but some people have stronger subjects than I have.

Just a few quick snags, to give others a taste of what is there:

"About Jesus -is-lord.com

This website solely exists to magnify the name of Jesus Christ and His doctrine. In so doing, we expose grievous human and satanic errors that keep people in bondage and out of the kingdom of God. If you are a hypocrite or other hellbound rebel, REPENT of all your wicked sins, BELIEVE the gospel, and stop dishonouring King Jesus. Ye must be born again! Flee from the wrath to come!"

"WARNING TO CHRISTIANS-- The American school system (public, private, and "Christian") is dangerous. Combine this with the television and you will understand why the children are turning out deficient and full of problems--physical, mental, and spiritual. There are reasons the school system is failing and turning out sots (dull heads), rebels, whoremongers, and freaks--it is by design. Americans were once a strong, independent, rugged, innovative, productive, freedom-loving people. But now look, we are at the bottom of the barrel dependent on someone else for every morsel of food that we eat--let the grocery stores close down and see what happens across this land. Through "progressive" education (progressing towards what?) we have been turned inside out. Americans were in an uproar when the progressives first tried to implement compulsory schooling at the turn of the twentieth century. But now look. We kick our children out the door at five years old (and earlier if Mother works) into "kindergarten". Christians did not belong in the school system in the first place (Deu 6:6-9)--may the true disciples bail out of that sinking ship and exchange it for a sanctified homeschool under a Biblical Scholarship. "

She excoriates nearly everyone in her blissful singular mindedness, and her word use and grammar are enough to make me shudder in near apoplexy! (heretick instead of heretic, underminded instead of undermined--at another point, she wrote "undermind" instead), people like Mary, Charles Darwin (what fundie actually gives a shit about Darwin?), Martin Luther King, and the Roman Catholic faith.

Take a look around, if you can. The front page has got over half a page's worth of links, and the links themselves are enough to scare someone.

Folks, let me know what you think. Am I the nutcase here, because I believe there is very strong aura of mental illness surrounding people like this? Or do some of you agree with me that this a dangerous group of religious fanatics who are a subset of homegrown terrorists like McVeigh, Koresh, and the Rajneesh religious cult? Whichever it might be, I think we're faced with only the beginning of what could eventually be too overwhelming for us to deal with it.

2. Back in the 60s, people this wacky were sent to state mental hospitals
when their families started to fear for their safety around them. People who swore they heard god and that they alone knew god's will were sent to taxpayer supported hospitals in every single state for care the insurance industry was too mean to provide, an evaluation and trial of antipsychotic drugs to see if the delusions would clear. Most of them did, although there was a revolving door for people who missed the cachet that those messages from the almighty had given them and stopped the drugs.

Thanks to Reagan and a lot of muzzy headed civil libertarian lawyers worldwide, these hospitals were dismantled and the religiously insane were left with few to no resources.

Yes, they are dangerous, mostly because rational Christians try to feel some sort of religious solidarity with them. This is a serious mistake and mainstream Christianity had better start to take the problem seriously or we are in a great deal of trouble in this country.

Those old hospitals, at their worst, were used to warehouse women that nobody wanted any more, the husbands having moved on to someone younger and her family having written her off as unable to keep her man. At their best they did deal with the delusions of the god crazy very efficiently and with reasonably short hospitalizations.

Obviously, what we are doing now serves no one. It's a problem of the health care industry, of government, and of the churches. It's high time all of them took it seriously and started to deal with it.
