Charlie Crist Sez Yahweh's Still In The Storm-Control Bidness

Are You There, God? It's Me, Charlie

TalkingPointsMemo | Eric Kleefeld | August 21, 2009, 3:25PM

Gov. Charlie Crist (R-FL)

Gov. Charlie Crist (R-FL) is really taking his appeals to the state's religious right to a new level, in his campaign for Senate. http://townhall.com/news/us/2009/08/21/is_god_protecting_fla_at_gov_crists_request?page=full&comments=true">Town Hall reports that Crist was speaking to a group of real estate agents, and credited prayer notes in the Western Wall in Jerusalem with preventing his state from being hit by hurricanes during his time as governor.

Crist told of how he visited the Wall in 2007, and placed a note saying: "Dear God, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. Charlie."

"Time goes on -- May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December -- no hurricanes," Crist said. "Thank God."

Crist has also had other people place notes in the Wall in 2008 and 2009. Crist made it clear that's he's not personally taking credit for Florida having been spared from hurricanes. "I give that to God," Crist said. "But it's nice."

- So he put his name on the note because of what?, so god would know who it was from? So that HE wouldn't get him confused with some other Charlie? Hello! Can you say Total Omniscience!?!?!

Well at least it's good to see that Charlie and Yahweh are on a first-name basis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqC73omSk4o&feature=player_embedded">That always helps.....

3. I thought you were kidding.
I thought you were both kidding. It's very hard to believe that, in the 21st century, magic is the rage.

4. The thing that bothers me the most about this is...
The prayer notes that are put in the Western Wall in Jerusalem are supposed to be private and not talked about.
Crist talking about his written prayer is just wrong!

6. I would like to apologize.
Once you get the Altoona PA mindset, it takes a while to clear the cobwebs from your brain. It took me a while to clear my head and then I came back here for some reason.

9. Does this moran think he's the only one who prays?!
You know what really astounds me about this? It's not the fact that a Florida governor would attempt to appeal to the religious right, or even be a member of that group himself. It's the massive ego-centrism. EVERYONE wants to find a way to stop hurricanes...scientists are working on it right now, and religious people of many faiths pray to their own gods to try and stop hurricanes and other natural disasters.

The way this ass-clown made his statement, it almost sounds like he thinks other people's prayers are worthless, and that only he could "intercede with God" on behalf of Florida. Talk about arrogance...
