First look at the BBC's The Day of the Triffids.
Just over a year after it was first announced, the BBC has released the first images from their mini-series based on the John Wyndham sci fi novel "The Day of the Triffids."

The two part 90-minute drama, which is set to air December 28th-29th, was adapted for 2009 by Patrick Harbinson whose impressive resume also includes "ER" and "Law & Order."

"Triffids" also boasts an 'all-star' cast that includes Bill Masen, Joely Richardson, Brian Cox, Vanessa Redgrave, Eddie Izzard and Jason Priestley.

Filming for "The Day of the Triffids" took place in the UK last April under the direction of Nick Copus (The Summit, EastEnders) and producers Justin Bodle and Stephen Smallwood. The mini-series is a co-production between Power (UK) and Canadian production company, Prodigy Pictures.

Since Bill Masen is the narrator of Day of the Triffids (as the quite plot setup underneath mentions), I suspect the blogger isn't actually familiar with the book, at all. It's actually Dougray Scott playing Bill Masen: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1332653/fullcredits#cast

Jason Priestley as Coker? :wtf: That's a rewritten part, for sure.

4. early 80s
Did anyone ever see the TV miniseries version in the early 1980s? That was my personal favorite version. I liked it much better than the movie version. I had never heard of the book until I saw the miniseries.
It showed up on USA a few times in the 1980s, and then disappeared. It finally came out on DVD last year.

5. I watched the film perhaps a dozen times when I was young, and I can not seem to remember anything
about it at all!
