TLC drops Jon and keeps Kate

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Kate plus eight minus Jon equals TLC.

The breakup of Jon and Kate Gosselin's marriage this year changed the composition of the reality show's November relaunch, the network announced Tuesday.

"Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family," TLC President Eileen O'Neill said.

After 10 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation and divorce filing on a special one-hour episode of their TLC reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" in June.

All that aside, nobody is talking about the effect this is going to have on the children. They are the innocent victims in all this.

Pull the plug on this show and stop giving these 2 low life parents an outlet to air their dirty laundry. Stop trying to carve out a living off the backs of 8 innocent children who didn't ask for any of this. This is not a normal childhood. Everyone needs to start looking out for the psychological impact this is going to have on them.

Kate needs to stop with the whoa is me poor single mom attitude. She has no idea what it's really like to be a single mom. She is the prime example of someone with a narcissistic personality disorder. Her desire for stardom is ruining 8 innocent lives. TLC should lose their broadcasting license for what they are doing to these children.

To me, both Jon and Kate have acted despicably when it comes to what is truly best for the children. The children need NORMAL lives, without cameras covering their every move. I mean, what's it going to be like for one of the little boys when they hit Junior High and someone brings up a youtube video of them potty training? Could prove to be quite embarrassing for a teenager!

However, I do think of the two parents, it is Kate who is the most manipulative, and the one most desirous of maintaining the show and thereby having attention paid to her. She is definitely a media whore and I don't buy the "woe is me" act for one minute.

While I have my doubts about his sincerity, I do believe that Jon has acted properly by suspending filming.

She is a registered nurse - a field which does have job openings and pays well. She can do the same as any other single mother has to do in order to provide for her family. I'm sorry, but she is no better than all the other struggling single mothers and fathers facing the same types of obstacles. The kids do not have to live in a million dollar mansion, or take trips to Disneyland, etc. every other week.

The bottom line is that Jon and Kate chose to have a family this large. Now they are having to deal with the responsibility of providing for a family that large. The more mouths that you have to feed, the more money it takes to feed them. It may take both of them having TWO ordinary jobs, but they need to do whatever it takes to get those kids out of the spotlight.

They should be thankful for the perks that they've gotten thus far, but they should realize what the cost of having those perks has been - and return to a life of normalcy for the sake of their children.

At least at this juncture, Jon has indicated that he wants filming to stop. Whatever his motivation is for saying that (yes, it may be for his own selfish gain), at least it has taken the film crews away from the children for a period of time. The divorce has turned very ugly and the parents' fights don't need to be publicized for the children to see now...or later when they grow up and become better internet surfers.

But I also don't think she's entitled to any special privileges just because she has eight kids. Let her get a job. The show isn't going to last forever, so what is she going to do when it is canceled? She'll need a job when that happens. So let her get a job now. Maybe she can go ahead with the show with Paula Deen without the kids. She's entitled to do whatever she can to be gainfully employed, as long as that doesn't exploit the children. No parent should be living off of income generated by their minor children. That's why we have child labor laws in place and it's going to be interesting to see the outcome of the Pennsylvania child labor investigation.

I think it's pretty obvious to everyone that it is detrimental for these children to be filmed. Have you seen the interviews with the aunt and uncle, who were, at one time on the show? They've spoken publicly explaining that the children have asked (in their presence) not to be filmed.

Kate has a long track record of alienating people, including ALL of the former babysitters, her parents, and now Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin.

Please stop making this a "John versus Kate" issue. Please understand that I think BOTH OF THEM are jerks. But he has asked that filming be stopped and that is what needs to happen - regardless of WHY he's asking it to be stopped, the fact that it is being stopped is a positive thing for the children.

I don't think Kate is a jerk at all. Jon is. It's so clear what happened: they got famous, she got carried away with making more andmore money, but HE got carried away with the money, too. AND he got carried away with the fame part...girls flirting with him. So he tests the waters, gets a girlfriend (while he's on the show with his eight children and pretending to be married still), starts going out getting drunk at bars with his girlfriends, moves out, starts sleeping with the girlfriend he has settled on, then when he finds out TLC doesnt' want him on the show, he steals the money out of the joint checking account and suddenly announces THAT SAME DAY that the show is bad for the children.

Most people can see through him and see what he is. The fame and money changed him a lot. Kate may have gotten carried away with money, but it didn't seem to change her character, her core. And let's not forget, she DOES have a lot of expenses, what with having 8 kids and 8 college education bills to pay for.

As opposed to having to work their way through college and on student loans that they would have to pay back. Otherwise, Jon & Kate would never have been able to afford to pay for their health insurance, college education, and other expenses. (Of course, it was their decision to risk having that many kids, so I'm not sorry for them about the expenses.)

As for the body guard, she has addressed that (unlike Jon) forthrightly: she has stated publicly that she has never had an affair with the bodyguard or anyone. Couldn't be plainer. If you're trying to say she's lying, as support for your warped views, well....there are those who feel the same way about Obama. No matter what he does, they are on the other side shouting "death panels." Despite facts to the contrary.

27. Jon & his atty have had hour long interviews on Larry King TWICE now.

To discuss the divorce, teh show, the money, the kids. Kate has been on Larry King but when asked about the divorce and specifics, she declined to answer, saying she has her kids to think about, so she doesn't want to air dirty laundry and have all this stuff floating around.

She hasn't done a poor me routine at all. She has presented a "this is what has happened...I'm dealing with it as best as I can, trying to smile and put a good face forward for my kids' sake...I'm learning how to do the sporty and outdoorsy things that Jon used to do with the kids...life goes on." Not exactly a "poor me" routine.

Meanwhile, Jon is still walking around whining and speaking ill publicly about the mother of the children he supposedly loves. Everything is everyone else's fault, according to Jon. HE is not at fault about anything whatsoever. (By contrast, Kate admits to her faults and takes part of the blame for the divorce.)

Not exactly a tie. Jon is the jerk. He wasn't faithful during the marriage, either. Now, he has sunk so low as to clean out the joint checking account. (I'm guessing that her lawyer told her to separate their funds, but she refused, trying to keep everything amicable. And look what happened to her trust in Jon.)

So he can take his stolen money, his paid-for hair plugs, his young blonde girlfriend, his envy of his former wife, and hit the road. No one wants him. Because he's a JERK.
