"Valkyrie" was better than I thought it'd be....
My nephew wanted to go, so I took him. I thought he'd hate it, but...

Cruise wasn't bad. Sometimes he can be distracting in a movie, but he was better than I expected. There were one or two trademark "Cruise" moments but knowing Count von Stauffenberg's aristocratic background, they didn't seem out of character. You knew what was coming, you knew the outcome, yet how the plot came together and ultimately unravelled was told exceptionally well.

Had a good discussion with my young nephew on the way home about what it means to be a patriot, sometimes.

2. yes, it actually was
I've never had a problem with Cruise as an actor and I'm glad the actors didn't use fake German accents.

3. Saw it yesterday and agree
it was not bad, better than the last movie I went to see THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL...which left us going 'huh"? Not great, but good

4. Cruise was carried by the supporting cast of British and German actors.

I was surprised that I didn't hate it. I thought it was pretty good. I don't dislike Cruise; he just kind of leaves me cold. The problem is that I saw 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'The Reader', 'Doubt' and 'Milk' in the past few weeks and these movies are much better than 'Valkyrie'. We're going to see 'Frost/Nixon' on New Years Day.

5. Yeah, it was decent though as far as casting, maybe a different actor
Cruise wasn't bad-- I just thought that maybe a British or Aussie actor might have been better in the role.
