Anyone read “Shoulda Been There,” about John Lennon’s early life?

I understand it's a a non-fiction book that is written like fiction.

1. Nope. I wonder if it's worth it? I admired John Lennon til I found out he was GOP

5. Yoko Ono didn't come to his defense about this tho. On the other hand, Yoko is weird...
Apparently she abandoned her daughter.

6. And you'll notice they haven't exactly started singing "Imagine" at GOP gatherings, either

;-)

7. Of course not. Lyrics of peace go against the basic grain of rightwingerism
But it sure wouldn't be the first time that someone is a lib, then switches and becomes an asshole. I can think of other examples. Again, I don't know.

8. I don't know -- you listen to his last tapes, there was no "Stop Imagining" on there
There were songs like "Nobody Told Me," however, expressing a general, and well-earned, bewilderment at the world...

3. I doubt it, liberal as he was. Later in that same article it says:

"A guy named Fred Seaman is all over the conservative blogs today for a new documentary in which he claims that John Lennon was 'a closet Republican' at the time he was shot. This seems unlikely," contributor Jon Wiener wrote. "First of all, who is Fred Seaman? He'd been a personal assistant to John and Yoko at the Dakota in the late seventies, but he's also a convicted criminal. He was found guilty of stealing John Lennon's personal belongings, including his diaries, after Lennon had been killed. He was sentenced to five years probation. You might say that weakens his credibility."

4. I hope he wasn't, but you know what? Is it likely that of all the stuff he could've said about
John Lennon (he was a pervert, a swinger, shot up drugs, had a horrific temper, was a bad father to his first son, he was a bad husband to his first wife, he was a pedophile, he was gay while married to women, whatever), he chose to make a statement that in contrast with all other stuff, seems almost ridiculous and not excessively scandalous.
