I'm looking for one that clips onto the book. Do you use one you like enough to recommend it?

1. I keep buying them and hating them.
I have wasted a lot of money because I keep buying book lights and then throwing them out. If there is a good one out there, I would like to know too.

But $35 seems like a lot. I should go look at it in person.

5. The first paragraph is so funny - thanks!
Here it is:

"The sort of people who use book lights—book lighters, if you will—are not to be trusted. The device itself, remember, is intended for surreptitious reading. If these people have nothing to hide, why do they sneak off to a dark corner with their tiny, battery-operated lights? Why do they continue to read after their spouses have gone to sleep? What, exactly, are these book lighters planning?"

4. After about 10 of them, THIS is the one!
It's called the "Mighty Bright, XtraFlex2" I got it from Amazon when my wife bought me my Kindle. They also have a website, mightybright.com. It is far and above every other light I've seen. The gooseneck is thin and extraordinarily flexible, but holds position beautifully. The light has two LED's, terrific battery life, and you can select one or both. Because the gooseneck is so good, if you're using an e-reader, you never have a glare problem.

Seriously, you won't be sorry.

6. Thanks for the info
Amazon has a good price, too. I see that Target also carries them so I'll see if I can find it locally to take a look at it.

:hi:

7. I use a camping headlamp
I read a lot of paperbacks, and the clip on lights made for books never seemed to work that well with them. A headlamp, especially one with a 'low' setting, works incredibly well.

Actually, I've been using my backlit cell phone with downloaded eBooks when I've been reading in bed at night recently. No need to mess with a light.

I tried reading on my wife's iTouch, but the damn thing kept rotating the screen when I was lying on my side, so the text was always at a 90 degree angle. D'oh!

8. We've got a pair of "Phorm" book lights and like them a lot.
They're CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) lights and operate
on four AA batteries producing a very pleasant light with good
brightness and color. The instructions discrecommend using
rechargeable batteries but that's all we've ever used in our lights
and they work fine.

http://www.amazon.com/tag/phorm%20book%20light

(The Amazon picture shows the light folded up in the
storage position.)

The bad news is they no longer seem to be available new, but
they do seem to be available used.
