Oil Jumps Over $50
Wed Nov 3, 2004 03:54 AM ET
By Jonathan Leff

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil prices spiked up above $50 a barrel on Wednesday as signs of an electoral victory for President Bush raised the prospect of continued high U.S. demand and Middle East supply anxiety.

4. Gasoline to jump $.50/gal

Lots of evidence that Oil companies have been artificially
holding the price down until the election (eating the cost
of spot crude for the last month or so). Now with the election
over, it will be time to let pump price reflect the price crude plus some extra to "make up" the previous partial subsidy.

I expect gasoline here in CA to be $3.00 plus before Christmas.
Folks in the Northeast who haven't locked down contracts for
home heating oil are going to get boinked up the wazoo.

Sigh.

5. I like the part about how...
the SPR is being filled and expanded, yet heating oil supply is low. Follow the money and at the end you'll find a greedy bastard.

6. Well from an environmental point of view
it should be $5.00 a gallon!

Why should we be paying less than our brothers in Europe?

They've had comparatively high gas prices for years now.
Maybe this will put a pinch in the wallets of those pukes driving gas guzzling SUVs.
