Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, and The Election
Any Rand fans out there?

I hoped never to see the day when the plot line of Atlas Shrugged played out on the reality stage. Yet here we are, the "smiling balls of meat" are pulling the strings, with the ignorant, uncaring consent of a large portion of the masses. I'd rather be Dagny Taggart than Karen Hughes, though, so my resolve is strengthened.

Who is John Galt?

1. Huge Ayn Rand fan actually
Not of all of her politics, but her story-telling was so engaging.

Think Ayn would have been a fan of Shrub? I imagine Howard Roark...then Shrub. Hahaha. Talk about night and day.

2. Exactly.
And do you remember when Dominique was so worried about what that sneaky little rat Ellsworth Toohey (aka Rove) could do to influence the world?

She asked Roark, "What do you think of Toohey?"

And Roark laughed, surprised, and responded, "But I DON'T think of him."

Think of the debates. Remember how Kerry looked in comparison with *?

Come on, America. This is ludicrous.

3. I'm usually slammed
by most of my lib friends about being a rand fan (also her story telling, not her politics necessarily) - nice to see a couple others here. These days its certainly a fantasy of mine to get the Dagnys and Galts of this nation together and build our utopia, leaving the rest to wretch in all their apathetic and ignorant glory.

5. Yup, me too
I rather mourned the loss of all the railroad tracks out here even though they make nice walking trails-or was that The Fountainhead?

8. I've always liked Ayn Rand
She was the opposite of a fundy. She wouldn't like Bush.

9. If this shit keeps up, we'll need a John Galt to stop the motor of the
world. Time out!
