The general public has accepted that there was voter fraud in the election
Their (and the media's) attitude is now, "There's nothing we can do about it..."

The 90's made this country complacent! God damit, FIGHT! WE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN! That is right WE! The republicans do not hold sway over us. We must resist.

I get irritated --nay --angry sometimes that at times like this, people like us have to do the work for 50 people, because the rest are so lazy or dispassionate. But hopefully THIS TIME the results will make it all worthwhile!

37. You can't protest as theatre for the media
Or symbolically, to stir the conscience of the Republicans.

We've got to do it the way people around the world who do not have a sympathetic media act. We need to target our protests carefully at government.

Examples of where and how effective protests might be mounted are protests intending to pressure and ostracize local election officials complicit in obtaining and using electronic voting machines. Clog county executive meetings with people, month after month, at every possible opportunity, whether or not the meeting agenda is about bbv. Call and mail these people at their homes and places of work. Their spouses are fair game for discussions of BBV too. Gather around them when they're shopping at the mall. Stir up a reaction in the community towards these people that's akin to how the ordinary French shunned collaborators. Make it incredibly clear, every way you can think of, that they will not find peace or acceptance within the community until they go for a verifiable voting system.

The object is not gentle pressure, or media attention. The object is to make these foot soldiers of fascism absolutely miserable as long as they do the dirty work of the Republican Party.

Without foot soldiers, Rove and Norquest are just answers to a trivia question.

14. I think some guidance would be pretty handy
because, yeah, we can individually or in small groups get really really pissed about it, but with the Republicans in control of everything, "What can we do" is a pretty valid question.
If the DNC gets some stones they will need to be extremely active in doing something about it--it needs to be their number one priority or there won't be any point in doing anything else. Even if the fraud is proven only after the election (and I personally think it'll be proven before then), the DNC will have to embarrass Republican members of the House and Senate into supporting voting reform. And I think that's quite doable.

39. Some of the problem is that everyone has been waiting for a leader
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 07:19 PM by Oak2004
to appear and tell them what to do.

That won't work. We are the leaders.

Something we can do to reach out to our local communities is hold good old fashioned real-people meetings, give people information, and give people something to do. Become your community's election fraud fighting leader.

I went over to meetup.com and became the organizer for a couple of organizer-less meetups on topics related to election fraud. And I'm going to look into getting a room somewhere, perhaps in the downtown library, so that I and perhaps another person who has worked on this from this area can tell non-DUed folks what we know, what's happening, and what, specifically, they can do about it.

And the next time anyone tells you that nothing can be done bacause the Republicans are too powerful, ask them if they think the Soviet Block fell to peaceful public protest because the Communists were a minority party in the politburo and had no influence with the press.

All it takes is action and persistence. And more action, and more persistence. The world the Republicans want to build can't be made. It defies the laws of political and economic physics. It must collapse. It's our job to keep giving it a little nudge, and to be ready with a viable alternative when it cracks and crumbles.

6. How can you tell?
did the media tell you that people didn't think there's fraud?

the media isn't asking anyone, they're ignoring the people who are telling about fraud and harassment.

in fact, if the media tells you people accepts it, that's the time to believe people are pissed about the fraud.

15. Some have accepted it,, some have not...
I find myself talking to everyone I meet these days- or at least everyone whom I feel would be interested and open to a conversation about (after I put out a "feeler" to test the waters). We're talking taxis drivers, people on airplanes, people in lines- any time I am in a situation to start a conversation about the election. I had 3 rows on the airplane buzzing about this last night!

Almost everyone is RELIEVED first of all to know that they are not crazy. Most are so excited that they quickly jot down the web links I give them or hand me their email addresses so I can add them to my mailing list (which is now up to around 300 or so). Many do want to know what they can do and how they can become involved. Some are in "victim mode" (There's nothing we can do about it") and for those people, I remind them if we don't do something now, we will NEVER have a legal election again. I try to motivate them to "See the light" - reminding them that if we can't vote, we don't have a democracy--- etc. and that's pretty effective.

But for others, the concept of "Election Fraud" and the enormousness of the possibility of our government being so corrupt that they would steal the election (not once but 3 times), is just too much for them to imagine or get their arms around which is why I believe, they are so complacent. That's where we need to be really vigilant about educating people and reminding them that WE ARE THE MORAL MAJORITY...

Remember also please- many voted for Kerry because they are really pissed off at Bush-- and those are the people we need to reach out to- because those are the ones who really want to know what went on and how they can help.

Don't give up- talk to everyone, give out flyers or mini-flyers with info if you find people are interested, ask that they tell everyone they know and spread the word-- this is very much a "revolution from within".

18. I disagree
Some who I talk to are aware of some glitches (especially the one or two "debunked" by the MSM) and admit that politics are often/always corrupt, and some of them tell me to shut up or to concentrate on '08 (or even better, one told me he thought the only fraud in the election was the Dems and that a recount would yield an even higher Bullsh vote! uh... yeah).

But most are painfully unaware of any of this, including the MSM debunking stories. It is not getting enough light at all.

I have been posting info on Myspace.com a friendster-esque network type of thing and on other boards I am on, as well as face to face. I try not to get too vehement, and try to use verifiable facts and linkable stories when possible, and try to maintain it is still "alleged" fraud at the moment in the hopes of reaching out to everyone regardless of party affiliation or lack thereof. Frankly I am probably annoying the hell out of my friends, but it frustrates and disheartens me to no end to hear either (1) get over it you whiny unAmerican liberal commie, or (2) get over it we lost.

I refuse to go down without a fight. I refuse to be bullied into submission. I also refuse to labeled a tin-hatter and remind people that there has been corruption in many elections in the past - why would it not happen when the motives and means are so obviously there? Why are things like Watergate only things which happen in history?

We are Americans for many reasons: we do not always agree on anything at all, but we all are interested in Freedom and the rights of our fellow citizens.

And again I want to thank everyone here who has been sending and seeking information.

Politcs as usual (which this oversteps in leaps and bounds) is not a valid excuse. And my friends who are the ones always going to lectures and caucuses and what not are the ones who don't seem to give a shit. I'm not going to let this go — the recounts, the hap's in Florida are strengthening my resolve and giving me hope. I'm trying to walk the line between getting fired and taking advantage of my time, email, and printers at work. If it's not fixed now, it's not going to get fixed.

20. You are right
the public doesn't want to hear it, and everyone I talk to seems to be unwilling to discuss it much. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the people in this country. They have lost their critical thought process or their courage or both. People keep going blindly on through their days hoping and ASSUMING everything will be "okay". They don't understand what is happening to this country and/or they just keep escaping through TV "reality shows".

25. Question the Election- We are the Moral Majority
That should be our mantra-- please remember this-- also remember that people WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS so don't let up spreading the word. Create email lists (as I have done) so you can send people updates and links to actions going on, hand out flyers (as I plan to do) with links to places people can go to learn, call in to talk radio, write to reporters- remember also that this is not a partisan issue (although for many of us it is)-- it's about DEMOCRACY.

This is a great article - send it around-- it's well written and includes lots of facts, credible information!

26. Most people suspect, but they don't know the info we do.
Once this stuff starts coming out and finds its way into newspapers, TV, etc.--and I think it will--then it's a whole different ball game. Suspicion of wrongdoing is very different from actual evidence. With evidence, many more people--including many conservatives--will demand that something be done. Just watch.

30. Hence the problem
In order for the Media to relent and cover this story there
needs to be hard evidence and not just suspicious statistics.
We need to present this data when found. I feel only then can the media not turn the other cheek. a critical part of getting the evidence is to make sure Blackwell doesn't interfere with an acccurate recoount and not a recount of the theft as he will probably try to do.

32. Whats wrong with statistics?
Statistical analysis can be conclusive; One in One Hundred and Eighty Million = Impossible. As a scientist I am rather taken aback by the denigration of statistics: it is all a very well formulated, established subject; it is the basis of just about every kind of quantitative analysis.

and that the whole thing busts wide open in the next few weeks. My gut says its gonna happen. I keep emailing talking heads, papers and congress because if and when this ball gets rolling every little bit now is gonna help. We need to be focusing on people like Judy Woodruff, Paula Zahn, Anderson Cooper and Lou Dobbs. I know CNN has ignored this thing but they are the softest tartgets for our emails and if enough of us keep banging on those doors we may have an impact.

38. Keep in mind that it only takes an active minority to change things.
Historians figure that only 10 percent or so of the population was actively involved on the side of independence during the American Revolution, with maybe another 20-30 percent passively supportive.

In fact, I can't think of a single significant successful movement for change that actually had majority support.
