Nearly all of Diebold's Board and its officers donated to Repubs
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 02:55 PM by Bread and Circus
If you run down the list at its website you will
find a list of its board of directors and its list
of officers (CEO, CFO, etc....). Take those names
to the FEC website and do a "donor name" lookup and
you will find nearly all of them have donated to
either Bush/Cheney '04 or some Republican candidate
at a more local level. I couldn't find one that donated
to Kerry.

It's beyond comprehension that such a partisan group could
be put in charge of counting 45% of the nation's votes.

1. What we need is a voting machine company owned by Democrats.
Make a better product (shouldn't be hard), sell it at a better price (also shouldn't be hard), and give Diebold a run for its money.

2. Diebold's Walden 'Wally' O'Dell was a Bush* Pioneer fundraiser.......
.......who promised to "deliver Ohio's electoral votes to the President" in an e-mail to supporters.

Go to http://www.opensecrets.org and search by company name to get a real feel for the scope of the problem. :scared:

It's not just Diebold or 'top officials' in the companies either. You'd be surprised at just how many software engineers that work for the voting machine vendors have wives that donate $100,000 at a time to Republican candidates!

3. long-time Diebold board member Timken is one of the big donors.

Long-time Diebold board member Timken is a heavy donor to Bush and the Republicans.

"Since 1991 the Timken Company and members of the Timken family have contributed more than a million dollars to the Republican Party and to GOP presidential candidates such as George W. Bush."

Source: Diebold's Political Machine
Political insiders suggest Ohio could become as decisive this year as Florida was four years ago. Which is why the state's plan to use paperless touch-screen voting machines has so many up in arms.

Also, the Timken Company (which Dubya has used as a backdrop for Ohio appearances, before they laid off a bunch of their Ohio workers) has generations of ties to Rockwell (now one of the biggest defense contractors) and Bradley (now one of the largest right wing foundations, since Rockwell bought it for $1.65 billion in 1985). Goes back to at least 1929, when Willard Rockwell was on the Timken board, and 1953, when Willard Rockwell merged Wisconsin Parts, Standard Steel and Spring, and Timken Detroit to form Rockwell Spring and Axle Company.

Bradley money supports the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, Hoover Institute, and Project for a New American Century, among others.

For more on the Bradley Foundation, which seems to pretty much fly under the radar considering the heft of its money, see, for instance:
