1. I've been wondering about that
I think that we the people have to be eyes, ears and voices.

More specifically, I mean that each of us should:

1) take a picture of how many people are at our voting sites. If it is a long line take a picture in front and in back of you.
2) Carry a list of phone numbers for reporting incidents and getting help.
3) starting now, we should be loudly spreading the word that we suspect election fraud and will be monitoring everywhere.
4) have several places to report back to...how, where and when we voted, to upload camera pics and post stories.
5) have people work in shifts, ready to post signs if a site is changed.

The bottom line is the votes we cast are done in secret and that is the route for fraud, so our voting overall should be highly on public display. It has to be a grassroots, street effort.

2. Get Out the Vote
Be a Poll Worker.

Be a Poll Watcher.

Could the DNC, or any party for that matter, review the states' purge lists?

3. Suggestions for combatting election fraud and hoping for the real winner to win
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 01:16 AM by diva77
What can you do if the machines are rigged, the lines to vote are long, your registration is purged, your polling place has disappeared, the exit polls are rigged, the media is rigged? The Olympics has rigorous testing for cheating, yet we have practically no way to combat cheating in our elections in the United States of America. I weep for the situation we are in.

Yet I don't want to give up hope, so I think at the very least, we must (and all of these suggestions have been put out there by others for the most part; I'm just repeating them here):

1) make sure IMMEDIATELY that your voter registration is valid with your county registrar - call and email the Registrar of Voters of your county to find out how to do this. Create a paper trail to document the responses you get.

2) make sure IMMEDIATELY that you find out in advance whether you need ID, and if so, what type. Again, call & email the Registrar of Voters so that you document the response. If you do not have the proper ID now, GET IT, or ask someone to help you get it.

3) Confirm the location of your polling place with the County Registrar of Voters -- and if it has been changed, make sure to let your neighbors know as well. Get it in writing from the Registrar.

4) If you have requested an absentee ballot, make sure that it arrives prior to the election with enough time to send it in. By all means, hand deliver it to the Registrar of Voters if you are able.

5) If you go to the polls on election day and find that you are not on the voter rolls, or don't have the proper ID, or your absentee ballot did not arrive, or any other reason why you are not eligible for a ballot, insist on a provisional ballot.

6) I think we have to be vigilant about having every last provisional ballot counted and included in the results of this election to help overcome the already apparent voter caging that is happening. I'm not sure how to make this happen, but calling the Registrar of Voters to find out how would be a good start. Having a group of citizen observers at county headquarters (or wherever the tabulation is done) on election night ensure that it happens would help as well.

7) If someone could fund exit polls to counter the rigged ones out there and be able to publicize the accurate polls -- i.e. someone that can find a way to include people who don't have landlines, or who are completely nonpartisan

8) Spread these suggestions far & wide, especially to those who are unaware, and offer to help senior citizens or others who need help to accomplish the very least we can do to salvage votes.

9) Further serious suggestions welcomed

4. Very difficult. Even if it is prevented, there's no way to know one way or the other.

That's not to say we don't know how. It's just that no one is really doing it. In the end we have to trust the software and the election officials and the poll workers. If they want to rig an election, there's nothing in place that will stop them really, including paper ballots, because they are counted almost entirely by computers.

I'd say the best thing is for everyone to check to make sure they're registered at least, and find a way to prove it on election day. Then just hope your vote doesn't get switched, but you'll never really know one way or the other.

5. IOW
There really is no hope. Or all there is left is hope. No confidence.

We've lost. We are screwn. Well, some of us tried.

6. we've been working on that for 4 years...
there are many aspects to election fraud. if you're referring to the machines specifically, the best we have to go on right now is AUDITS. If your state doesn't already mandate audits, call your Secretary of State today and ask why, considering all experts agree they are necessary. If she doesn't know what you're talking about, send her the Brennan Report. I'll send you the link if you don't have it.

If you're talking about the all-encompassing election fraud, like the long lines, voter caging... I don't know the answer. Greg Palast and RF Kennedy are trying to investigate it but they need money.
