Who else is pissed off after watching "Recount?"
Edited on Mon May-26-08 01:56 AM by dubeskin
Wow. This just makes me so much more angry at the Republicans and how they stole the 2000 election. I had no idea at the acts that happened in Florida and how those shenanigans affected these past 8 years. Seeing as how most of it is factually based, I really love the way they portrayed it.

Who else is more enraged at the underhand practices that occurred in Florida in 2000 after watching this movie?

Edit: I just had this thought after watching the very final scene. Is it legally possible to go back and recount all ballots out of Florida, every single ballot, multiple times, just to see who would have won? It seems like it may not matter anymore, but to see if our great Democracy worked to its fullest extent, and made the correct decision.

5. What she said
Funny, CalPeg.

I didn't watch it, either. But, it was watched in my home and I did glance at the screen during trips to the kitchen (snacks).

Right now in Universe X there's an internet forum called Rupublican Enchanted Forest, and a post by someone saying she is pissed off but didn't watch it, either. For different reasons.

Enjoy yourself in our crazy and very addictive little village!

:hi:

Why on earth would the Republicans be upset over this?

I cannot imagine...

8. They are outraged that we would be outraged that this election was
stolen. I know, I know it doesn't make much sense, but, then, these people still think that Bush has done a wonderful job. They demand strict constructionism of the constitution, fealty to State's Rights, and no activist judges - all things that were promptly disregarded to gain the Selection of 2000.

Basically, they don't want to be reminded that they supported the criminal bozo's who have trashed our country. I doubt many Bushbots watched it.

2. I knew, I'm relieved and kinda' happy
The more the facts get out there, the better. They did a really fair job, presented the law in an even-handed way, and showed how the partisanship is what really decided it. I am really happy the story has finally been told and maybe this will encourage people to understand why some of these other issues are so important to investigate.

13. I found it REALLY hard to watch
Certain scenes, especially. I remember just about every moment of Election Night 2000--when Florida was called for Gore, oh joy!--and the weeks that followed. But you're right... it's good that the facts are getting out--eight years too late, but better late than never.

is making the Supreme Court accountable for what could be their treason.

7. Some were pissed off when it happened, and then we really got mad in 2004!
I just hope we're not looking at 2008!

9. Seems like I read that they destroyed those ballots. But the last count had Gore
winning by 5 hundred something.

10. you'd have to be able to count
all of the illegally disenfranchised voters as well. we're never going to have a true count, but we know enough to know that all of the past 7 1/2 years, we should have had a democratic president. and how different the world would be if we had. argh

14. We need to be angry with ourselves for letting this happen. Why were we not rioting in
the streets? We just sat on our hands. Sheeple. Makes me think it's true what they say about flouride---that it makes folks passive, which is the real reason we put it in the drinking water. The UK is finally getting it---guess they'll become more passive, too.

15. I am heartened to hear your reactions
(I won't be watching it myself, as I'm too cheap to get cable.)

Sounds like it was entertaining enough to get people to watch and truthful enough to get them angry. Maybe the tide is turning (she said hopefully, for the umpteenth time).

16. And Recount didn't touch on the Sequoia paper ballots!!!
Those hanging chads were NO ACCIDENT!!! Florida 2000 was rigged in so many ways. Few Americans are aware of the Dan Rather report on the fraudulent paper ballots used in key Florida counties in Florida 2000.
