San Juan County, WA: White & Rosato v San Juan County
PROTECT OUR SECRET BALLOT

King County plans to adopt mail ballot tracking. This is more than envelope tracking. It adds a unique barcode to each ballot that is linked to the voter's id. This eliminates the secret ballot, taking away all voter privacy. Unique barcodes on ballots are unconstitutional, illegal, and bad policy.

Tuesday May 1, 2007
7 pm - 9 pm

University Heights Center
Room 212 (second floor, middle of the building)
5031 University Way NE
Seattle WA 98105

AGENDA

1) Greeting

2) Discuss Public Hearing Monday May 14th

King County's Citizen Election Oversight Committee has a hearing to receive public feedback on the Vote By Mail business case. This includes mail ballot tracking and new Diebold ballot counting systems. We will present information packets detailing issues and concerns. We'll encourage everyone to attend the CEOC hearing and testify.

Public Hearing: Proposed New Ballot Counting System

3) Protect Our Secret Ballot

Tim White and Allan Rosato have sued San Juan County for adding unique barcodes to their ballots. These barcodes are linked to voter ids when the ballots are produced, before being sent to voters.

Tim and Allan will explain mail ballot tracking, the lawsuit, and their efforts to date.

Activism is not free or easy. Tim White and Allan Rosato need our donations to continue their work. There will be an appeal during this event.

1. What?
Who are these guys and what are they trying to do? It looks
like another repuke try to not count votes. Just so you know,
San Juan Co WA is a bunch of islands about 80 miles northwest
of Seattle. Martha's Vineyard West. Look it up for yourself.
The new "Make America Vote Like We Want Act" made
our small little county, with about 15,000 permanent residents
spread out over all these islands, required to provide $38,000
voting machines to accommodate the handicapped, for each
island, of which there are many. That would have bankrupted
San Juan County, so we went mail-in ballots, just like Oregon
has done for the past I don't remember how many years.

2. The issue is not mail-in ballots
The issue is putting a barcode on them to link the ballot to a particular voter, which is an entirely different matter.
