6 PM Lou Dobbs - why did MD Senate Block VVPB Bill?

And the latest from our “Democracy at Risk” series:

Evidence continues to mount that voter-verified paper trails are the
best way to decrease, if not eliminate, voter fraud.

But while 27 states currently have a voter verified paper trail,
Maryland's recent attempt to pass paper ballot legislation failed.

The State House passed the bill unanimously,
the Governor strongly endorsed the bill but then
the State Senate derailed the bill.

Why is the state of Maryland going against the grain?
We’ll tell you tonight.

Visit http://cnn.com/loudobbstonight for more on
tonight’s show. And stop by the LDT show page or CNN.com to
read Lou’s latest commentary on why the president is ignoring
the rule of law in this country.

Maryland, Lou is coming for ya! Hang on!

Florida, maybe we can get Lou down there too!

1. Man, this guy is turning out to be a tiger!! And he can keep doing this
from now to doom's day and never run out of stories. After MD, FL? After FL, what? CA and all that S of S stuff, geting rid of Shelley and inserting McPherson, and the Bilbray mess. AR and all the ES&S failures this June? IA and the 9 races whose results were reversed after a hand count?

Man, every day they'd have a new absolutely arresting story.

If Lou gets his walking papers at CNN, maybe he could start his own cable station: Electronic Voting Machine Activism Cable.

Go for the red meat, Lou. Tear them to pieces.

5. we need him to hit Florida
Maryland, Georgia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania - these have no chance
of getting legislation passed at the state level.

The deck is completely stacked against them, and it has
been proven time and time again that no matter how badly the
paperless machines switch, lose or add votes, the state officials
will not give up their addiction to the paperless machines.

IN fact, it is going to get worse in these states.

2. one problem
i love LOU (and I've been recording all the recent Democracy at Risk segments for a coming free DVD).

but this is incorrect:

"Evidence continues to mount that voter-verified paper trails are the
best way to decrease, if not eliminate, voter fraud. "

the reports are all saying that AUDITS are needed too. paper trails alone are not enough. i wish they would mention that!

4. AND..........
I JUST don't like the guy, he's dancing all around the fact that the machines are counting our votes IN SECRET.

Break this story Lou, the way it should be broken, you can do it you, or go back to what you do best, reporting about Clintons penis.

Thanks Lou, my family, friends and the American people know more about Clintons penis than they know about the machines that count our votes in secret. COWARD!

CNN Continues Coverage Of E-Voting
By Beth Feehan, VoteTrustUSA
June 18, 2006

CNN's Lou Dobbs has continued to cover the threat of Electronic voting to our Democracy. On his June 13 program he focused again on security vulnerability. His guests included Warren Stewart, VoteTrustUSA's Director of Legislative Issues and Policy. A video of the segment can be downloaded and viewed here. A transcript of the segment follows:

-snip-

DOBBS: Well, I'll tell you, frankly, I'm no more reassured by the fact that some election official is doing an audit of a machine with proprietary software for which there is not a paper record of that vote cast and for which we have the ability to conduct a recount reliably and accurately. After all, that is the purpose of the recount.

8. I had a pretty good idea on the evening of Nov 2, 2004 and a bit before.
But there have been some serious people working on this problem since the 1990s and they deserve a lot of the credit. Most of us are really Johnny-come-latelies and that includes most of the "big names" in the activist biz.

What's your point?

9. Lou, a REPORTER is just finding out that
there is a problem with the election theft machines, even though few Politicians have admitted or said, in public, that there even was a problem with the machines.

Miraculously, Lou in the middle of "rerun season" ON TV, (they run reruns in the summer because there isn't that many viewers) does a story about the election theft machines..hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Will Lou be talking about the machines throughout September?

Will he even talk about the fact that the machines are counting our votes in secret? Because to the average American "trade secret" on the screen is meaningless, Trade secret means they are able to count our vote in secret, LEGALLY.

The Lou Dobbs report is CALCULATED reporting.

10. Why don't you ask Lou Dobbs?
Edited on Thu Jul-27-06 01:02 AM by Bill Bored
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?9

He said "Trade Secret", he said "proprietary" he said "audit" he said "not a paper record of that vote cast and for which we have the ability to conduct a recount reliably and accurately."

Give him a break! I haven't seen Keith Olbermann go this far, have you? Bev Harris had a shot to be on his show and she blew it. Remember?

Reporters know what they learn from or are told by their SOURCES. Dobbs' sources are from VoteTrustUSA. No one has gotten as far with the MSM as they have and what thanks do they get? A smear campaign from fellow activists?

13. i disagree
i think Lou's (actually Kitty's) reporting on election issues over the last month has been very good. it has not been perfect but it is by far the best coverage on mainstream TV. I think we should commend him for taking it on. And if you pay attention to his commentary after Kitty's reports, it's obvious he takes this issue very seriously and he's pissed off about it. Plus, the ongoing "Democracy at Risk" shows he's going to stay on it.

now in case you've missed some of the coverage, most of it can be found here:

http://www.solarbus.org/election/multimedia.shtml

and the good news is that very soon we'll have a DVD with all this stuff on it, that you can watch on your TV (not computer).

14. " Plus, the ongoing "Democracy at Risk" shows he's going to stay on it."
I'd be more that happy to eat my words, but I have take a wait and see approach, lets say, I'll let you know at the end of Sept.

The way I think about this report, is that the powers that be know that the word about these election theft machines is getting out, so what this report does is makes it appear (to the average American) that they (ON TV people) are doing something about it.

At the end of this report, I think they will say "because of our reporting the goverment passed the HR 550" Then they have their new HAVA in place, the average Joe goes back to sleep believing that they are safe to vote again, not knowing that the government and the voting machine companies are still counting our vote in secret.

Did you ever get Catherine Criers first report on your site yet?
