To Ignore Is To Participate - Notes from the Hawaiian Trenches

To Ignore Is To Participate

by Milo Clark

(Swans - February 27, 2006)

snip

Here in Hawaii, the allegedly dominant Democrats are very much ignoring 2004 election problems, evasions, and illegalities.

We go into the 2006 election season with high prospects for more of the same. Without exception, no elected official, no state or federal prosecutor, no party official, not one, is challenging the State Elections Office to obey the law and to follow regulations. A State Elections Commission was stillborn and remains quiescent. State and local media are chasing chimeras instead.

If Hawaii is an example or even partially representative, the participants in local, state, and national election evisceration are myriad in number and form. To ignore is to participate.

In 2004, I worked in the Hawaii County Counting Room as an Official Observer (see "A Day As Observer" and "A Summary From The Hawaii Political Trenches"). 2004 was the first year that totally electronic voting machines (Direct Recording Electronic voting machines) were introduced here. I learned a great deal about them, undoubtedly observing much more than intended.

2. It seems to me I've been reading a whole lot more about
people being disgruntled because of election problems; that's got to be a good thing. I too wonder why Dems aren't making more of a stink about this.

3. I was just thinking about this issue.
I called the CA Senate Rules Committee offices last week. The first one I chose was Perata's office, thinking that I'd be greeted with enthusiastic agreement, which would provide good fuel for the subsequent calls.

Instead, the rep from Perata's office was very negative, basically telling me that McPherson had made his decision, and all I could do was call his office and ask that he change his mind. (????!!)

I ended up nearly yelling at the rep., telling her that the Rules Committee had both the power and the responsibility to take action.
Why did I have to inform her that McPherson had broken State and Federal laws with his re-certification?
Why wasn't she aware and riled up about this outrageous action?

Why do so many of our Dem "leaders" seem to not give a royal rip about this issue, which could, besides end democracy in the US, end their political careers?

5. kick. This lack of interest on the part of election officials and Dems to
what we see so clearly as the death rattles of democracy is the hardest of all to take. Lack of interest or inability to see what is happening...or is it just denial because the truth is too difficult to accept?

6. The Democratic Party = The Washington Generals
The Washington Generals are the team that always plays the Harlem Globetrotters in "basketball." The Democrats are the party that runs against the Republicans in "elections."

The analogy between "elections" and pro wrestling is equally apt. At least wrestling is honest enough to call it "sports entertainment."

I just offered that "fake wrestling" analogy in a conversation I had with a friend where we discussed the electorate being "played".

everyone in the audience knows its fixed. With the election there are many people who believe it is a fair contest.

10. True.
I've used this analogy for a long time, even in the first ever post to the GuvWurld blog. I've seen others use it to; I'm not trying to make any kind of claim on the concept. Quite the opposite. I've seen it turn light bulbs on over people's heads. I think we need to use it more, and find new ways to build on it.

11.  Ed Schultz, Franken and Randi......... SILENCE.....
if your in the Government or you get in front of a national microphone suddenly you become SILENT about election fraud.... Thats what I don't get, We pushed to get liberals air time and the minute they get it.... SILENCE.

I am shocked with Schultz, I thought he would talk about it, but SILENCE. They all talk about Rush being dishonest but still SILENCE from all of them when it comes to the truth about election fraud?

12. I'm not the least bit surprised
Even before AAR went on the air I told people not to get their hopes up because they were launching as a commercial enterprise. If their goal is to woo advertisers and make money, that is fine. But let's be clear that this is their goal, and not actually leading the way toward large scale change.

Now, some AAR fans might get defensive in response to that and tell me how many tough topics they take on. Maybe so. Even then, they are still not leading toward large scale change. At most, they talk about stuff. They don't take action or organize. Even if I've missed something and they're at least trying to show this kind of leadership, this thread is one of the indications of their ineffectiveness.

For anyone trying to identify leaders, try using as a litmus test what a person or group states is their goal. Not everyone who states a righteous goal will actually deliver, or even be honest about their intentions. But you can be sure that those who don't state their intention to catalyze large scale change really aren't trying to lead in that direction.

If the Dems are the Washington Generals, AAR is playing the organ music over the arena PA system. They are just as much a part of the illusion of opposition, perpetuating the myths of democracy, capitalism, free speech, etc.

14. I was not surprised at first
but now that we have actual cases, Alaska, California, states banning Diebold share holders lawsuits, hursti hack, If they talk about it they can't be considered conspiracy theorist any more these are actual "truths" that they are ignoring, I ain't looking for round the clock coverage just serious discussion of it for half hour a week at minimum.

These Are things that are important to the people that listen to AAR .

15. If not surprised at first...
it would make more sense that their shortcomings would reinforce your initial lack of surprise, or perhaps jadedness.

Think of it this way...

How often do we see people react to the scandal du jour saying something akin to "unfreakinbelievable"? People are expressing their disgust and dismay, not their surprise, and certainly not the crossing of some boundary into territory they never "believed" we'd enter. All bets are off. Thinking "they'd never do that" is no longer a valid assumption. Yet we continue to see so many people feign disbelief at the latest transgression. It is a basic lack of ruthless honesty, the ability to reconcile stated beliefs with actions/statements taken/made based on those beliefs.

AAR is behaving consistently with what we should know to expect from them. It's a lot like the fable of the scorpion and the frog.

18. Ed Shultz and AARS silence is more shamefull than CM
They all keep babbling about the NSA, UAE and of course Rush,Rush,Rush
but not one thing about the election theft machines, even though the SOS in California just certified illegal machines. If they are so concerned about getting * out, talking about the election theft machines would be the fastest way to get it done. But complete and utter SILENCE.

20. Definitely their Goal , the evidence is hidden in the voting machines
so that makes you understand why they wouldn't want to talk about the election theft machines because they have no evidence, But now you have SOS of California certifying machines illegally, you have Alaska refusing to let the Dem's look at the ballots all out in the open, thats just two examples its not hidden thats evidence that something is wrong.

But still Silence from Ed, Franken and Randi and yet they talk a big game.

21. which do you think they need more?
problems to bitch about or solutions pursued through organized campaigns that ideally lead to change?

we could really use a program, station or network that focused on providing an interactive forum for the second approach. that's what advocacy journalism is really about, not having a mere bias. be the media!

22. Change only comes when both sides work within the law
to achieve an honest goal, thats not the case here. Silence and dishonesty from all the other factions is hurting the goal.
