After over 3 hours of conversations with reps from NEDAP which sells the Liberty DRE, I feel compelled to tell the side of the story from the view point of the Liberty reps-
In the USA we have Wylie Labs-- they test hardware systems in Voting equipment for use in the USA- Between Wylie labs and the NASED we end up with 2002 VOluntary voting System, standards- or somesuch.
In Europe, a lab in Germany has the reputation as the premiere testing authority for computerized systems. NEDAP DREs were sent to the German lab for testing, which went well.
Then their was a turnover in the Irish Government, after an election-- they have a parliamentary system.
Now the new government wants more testing, so all the purchased DREs were put into storage, while the new government turned to look for a new testing lab. Which is strange, because the PRIOR government had gone to the premiere laboratory in Europe for testing.
SO what is the current government of Ireland doing? Looking for a non premiere testing lab?
The world is not Black & white--- its in many colors. NEDAP is not Diebold. And should not be painted with the same brush.
In NJ we just got the Liberty Certified-- SO our county has a choice--
The Sequoia Advantage or the Liberty. SO I have tryed to learn as much as I can about NEDAP and such.
