1. This poll is in response to the person cited in another thread

That said DU "activists here are "mainly youngsters"". I think that is totally absurd and I'd like to find out.

6. You? Snooty? I was the one being snooty…or a bit cranky.
As you noted in your OP, the referred thread told a story about an election reformer commenting that DUers were "mostly youngsters".

Similar to that story, I heard one where the complaint was about DU posts that weren't mature. And so I was reminded, figuring a comment like that could not have been based on our appearance, but something else.

I've, at times, found myself disheartened with the tone of some debates, writing it off to the notion that it's an open forum.

But I've also seen thoughtful posters run-out of here for nothing more than having posed a logical, informed argument.

And I get cranky. But your poll neat. :hi:

10. Sorry!
If that person is trying to say we thing 'young', that's not the worst thing in the world.

12. "It's a DU thing, they wouldn't understand."
Wilms, you are always thoughtful. I can't make the same claim (cough, cough). But DU is both sides of the brain. The emotional/passion quotent is what makes this place so special.

You're right, it is a public forum and you get all sorts of folks passing through but, what the heck, we're the "diversity" party.

11. And remember what Lauen Hutton said: "50 is the new 30."
Right, and pigs live in trees (Firesign Theater, circa 1969).

I've been a political junkie all my life. Wish I'd had DU much earlier.

based on a completely meaningless poll with a margin of error of +-20 points - is not a 'youngster'.
