What is the strategy?
I'm an infrequent visitor to "Elections" these days, and I'm wondering, is there an agreed-upon strategy for fixing our elections?

The Dems are relatively powerless to get any legislation passed; they put up the most reasonable amendments and are just voted down. The White House seems to have a stranglehold on the media. What's a minority party to do? How are we going to get into the majority again if they diddle with the votes?

I've heard that it is up to the states to handle their elections, but without leadership at the federal level, and possibly money, will it get done?

The people need to be mobilized to demand change, but how? And outcry of public support would be really helpful, but how to get the message out and be believed?

What I see is that the only thing that will do it is undeniable proof--of deliberate fraud, voter intimidation, or whatever else went wrong. We need the press to disseminate that proof long enough so that the message gets out to everyone, and then we need national leaders who will then take up the cause. Am I right? Is this our focus going forward? The 2006 elections are only 18 months away!

1. Unfortunately
Until people begin taking to the streets like they did in the 60's, I don't see much happening.

I believe it will take youth in the streets. Whether our youth have it in them, I have my doubts.

3. Tell Howard Dean to SPend 500K of DNC Money
not on friggin election reform (and paying Donna Brazile's flunkie lawfirm employees) but to build a serious and impactful citizen resistance movement that includes funding the citizens who have worked so hard and now 1000% more than any stupid
DNC election Panel

or any stupid and sham like Baker-Carter commission.

it's time to fund the citizens to rise up and take back their democracies from the trenches.. with a combination of grassroots activism and legal actions...

it's time for some strategy that isn't trying to get unelected legislators to pass laws we all know they won't pass. forget legislative... our government is a single branch except for a few activist judges..

thank god for those activist judges.... I'm in atlanta.. we know these judges here will do right by democracy.... we need only put the case before them for them to do the right thing.....
