Progressive Movement Continues to Grow Post 11/2

Since the conclusion of the 2004 Presidential campaign, the Progressive movement has seen remarkable growth. It has strengthened its resolve, its effectiveness, and has dramatically increased its numbers. Most of the progressive activists who populated the Dean, Kucinich, Mosley-Braun, Sharpton, Nader and Cobb campaigns are still in the trenches, still organizing, still carrying forth a message of hope and of the better world that is possible for us all. It feels, more and more often these days, as if the transformations we hope for are truly not so far away.

In that spirit, full in the belief that there is great strength in our increasing numbers, PDA would like to congratulate and welcome the progressive leaders and organizations that have accomplished so much over the past six months.

1. Rep. John Conyers, Jr., ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, has been one of the most outspoken and effective voices in the fight for election reform in America. His new blog http://www.conyersblog.us/ will cover a wide range of issues central to the progressive movement and will be a vital source of information and calls to action.

2. Congressman Dennis Kucinich has launched his new website, http://www.kucinich.us , which presents in detail the Congressman's platform, including his position on 10 key issues, http://www.kucinich.us/issues, which PDA finds exemplary and well reasoned. PDA is proud of the work Congressman Kucinich has accomplished and honors his ongoing efforts to help direct the American political process in a progressive direction, and to elevate the human condition.

3. Senator Barbara Boxer, who stood for us all to protest the dubious validity of the Ohio Electoral College votes, has created PAC For A Change, https://www.changethecongress.com/index.asp . This organization's central mission will be to promote progressive causes such as election reform and the protection of the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge.

4. Governor Howard Dean, whose recent elevation to the post of DNC chair has been a shot in the arm for the entire Democratic establishment, is to be congratulated for his leadership and strength. His campaign organization of progressive grassroots activists has continued their great work as Democracy for America, http://www.democracyforamerica.com , a political action committee dedicated to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government.

5. Dot Maver is now the Executive Director of The Peace Alliance, http://www.dopcampaign.org , a 501c4 organization working to pass national legislation that will establish a Department of Peace. Maver is also Executive Director of The Peace Alliance Foundation, http://www.peacealliancefound.org/about.php, a 501c3 organization dedicated to developing a culture of peace with non-violence and cooperation as its organizing principle.

6. Pam Paul is an active participant, organizer and trainer for Root Camp, http://www.grassrootsforamerica.us/projects/root-camp.shtml, a grassroots training program run by Grassroots For America in conjunction with Latinos for America to educate, engage and empower citizens to be active and influential within the political process on a local, regional and national level.

7. Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, http://woolsey.house.gov/, has provided exemplary leadership in sponsoring H. CON. RES. 35, with the support of over two dozen Democratic colleagues, "Expressing the sense of Congress that the President should develop and implement a plan to begin the immediate withdrawal of United States Armed Forces from Iraq."

8. Sherry Bohlen, PDA Field Director, who with a team of all-volunteer organizers, helped build the PDA Field Team. This Field Team is comprised of chapters, caucuses, a national spokescouncil, representatives in every state (and even a PDA chapter overseas), and our progressive allies and partners. http://pdamerica.org/orgs/

4. But what about Jimmy Carter.
And the federal election commission?

Aren't they spreading an honorable message as well?

Or is it really a shill planted con-artist game, produced by the evil who hijacked the vote.

Say no more to Jimmy Carter Election Commission

Conyers has pointed out the truth of these racial, sometimes hate speech employed people.
