Election Reform/Election Justice groups need your skills
garybeck and I have put together a page on solarbus.org listing current and very specific needs of various groups working to restore fair elections to this country. We're in contact with key players in these organizations and have asked them for descriptions of their current needs. Bookmark this page and check it often. There are links there to contact information for the organizations, and tasks are listed by "job title," so you can see at a glance who needs the skills you have.

Please email your friends and colleagues with this link, post it on your website, do everything you can to get all those people who are sitting around feeling hopeless and wishing they could "do something" to see that there is real, do-able work just waiting for folks to step forward and do it!

9. GREAT IDEA! How about a section adding short-term actions as needed?
Examples:
- Calls, emails, letters, faxes, etc. to politicians, media, etc. for specific events, legislation, etc.

- Seminars, teach-ins, rallies, etc.

11. These resources are available elsewhere
Solarbus has a great page that links to other groups' calls for action:

http://www.solarbus.org/election/links.shtml#action

I guess it would make sense to link to this on the volunteer page. However, our goal with that volunteer page was to engage people in more ongoing ways. I don't want them to get distracted by the quick action items. I want more people to be contributing to the work of these (and other) organizations.

What do you think would be a good way to balance this goal with the goal of circulating info about the quick action items?

14. A cross-link on each page in a non-dominant position would work well
Examples from last week's blogcall blasters:

<On the left-hand side of the major blaster:>
http://www.independentmediasource.com/voteintegrity.htm
"Tell the Top 52 National Media Contacts to Participate in the Upcoming BlogCall Virtual Press Conference"

<On the left-hand side of the express blaster:>
http://www.independentmediasource.com/voteintegrity_express.htm
"Tell 391 National Media Contacts to Cover the BlogCall Press Conference!"

My experience in cross-linking closely related items like this seems to increase the response for both. I think the same would apply with the two solar bus pages. Some that would visit the long-term page may also be motivated to participate in some of the short-term activities - and visa versa. Also, if they aren't interested in participating in any of the options on the current page, the cross-links offers more choices to possibly get them involved.

I believe the best place on the solar bus pages to locate the cross-links would be at the end of the listings.
